Here is another good easy recipe'
Grate fine- 1 large head of cabbage.."REMOVE CORE!"
1 large or two small onions
Mix in 1 4 oz jar pimentos.."I omit if I dont have them on hand"
Bring to a boil and pour over the above..
1 1/4 cups sugar
3/4 cup white vinegar
1 tsp mustard seed
3/4 cup salad oil.
Mix well, cover and refrigerate, will keep up to three weeks in refrigerator..."I have kept it over a month, it is almost like a pickle"
CAUTION! Always remove the core from cabbage, if you dont it will get bitter and strong in a few days, if you have ever eaten slaw that had a strong almost horseradish taste, that is what was wrong, its the little things that the old folks did that make a big difference!!
