Meant to comment on these ages ago but got totally sidetracked so doing a sneaky response while at work!

Alex - I've opened the lid but not removed to polystyrene insert to see if the complimentary Persil and Comfort are in there. I would imagine that the Comfort will resemble one of those urinal cubes by now after 30 years! Unfortunately the box is right at the back of the storage unit at the moment so I can't get at the serial number to get an exact date.

Mike - just need a couple more machines and should be fully loaded - Would love a vented hoover electron washer dryer and can't decide on which other machine would make it to the collection - was going to say complete but that is never the case!

Paul - both were on e-bay. I saw the toploader and messaged the guy with a BIN offer but when I looked back the item had ended so thought someone had beaten me to it and guessed that was that. However, got a message back later the next day to say it was mine so wasted no time in going to collect it as it was only on the other side of London. I should have asked a few more questions but was in a rush. Looked like it may have been kept in a house where the owner must have either died or moved into a home as the house seemed quite dated. Not sure why it was never used though. I think I will end up using it but will be sure to keep the packaging and box and make sure it is looked after.

The 18680 was a bit further away in Sussex but I put in a bid and let the auction run its course not expecting to win but no one else bid on it. This was a house that had been bought and they were doing it up. Can't wait to hear this one in action although it could be some time with my luck on buying a new house!!

Gary - my favourite top loader would be the 1504 as I love its styling and it was our first washing machine as I was growing up. I love my 15792 which was the last timeline machine. I am guessing the cycles on this will be the same as my newer 9605.

Lee - I will be checking some of your previous posts for tips and advice on this. I did manage to open the door and check and there is a bit of rust on the lip but doesn't look too bad. It needs an overhaul anyway so will look to get this sorted out.

Al - hope all is well with you - sounds like it :) Will have to catch up soon. Not sure about this box business though and I'm not that young!

Austin - I still think there is more fun to be had in getting an old classic back up to full function and fixing old washing machines is a lot of fun too ;)

take care all
S :)
