I can't beleive that shop operator was putting out a set of machines as beautiful as those for the crusher---WHAT A MORON!!!!He could have resold those to another home.And yes what a waste to dump those perfectly nice machines into a landfill.and wonder what peice of new junk replaced those Maytags?Whats the world coming too?Oh well-that shops "trash?"was another appliance hunter collectors prize!

Thanks guys for the kind comments! I guess some might consider a non-suds Maytag to be flawed - but since it is an HA806 - I'll let this one pass ;-)
Again, the machines are in amazing shape, and I threw them down the stairs last night before going out, so I didn't get much of a chance to test them out.
However, I did plug in the washer to give it a quick test drive:
(please pardon the mess in the basement - as I said I needed another Maytag set like a hole in my head)

Somewhat close-up shot of the washer controls. The buttons even are minty and white. Probably a no smoke home and had good lighting.
So as I was messing around in the basement while I let it spin for the rinse, and besides the fact that it is probably one of the quietest Maytag's I've ever heard - a little surprise happened.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. A 1972 Maytag with a factory Mallory timer installed - she is a keeper!
(The Whirly fridge was nice, but for the same reason it was out behind the store, it doesn't quite go with the look I am shooting for in the kitchen. Too bad - it was mint too!)
I'll post some washing updates either later today or tomorrow evening.

Ben---I have a question about the Maytag directly behind your new 806. It looks like the one in yesterday's POD. In the ad for that POD, it said the washer had a new Rinse Conditioner Dispenser, but I don't see where it is. The lint filter had a solid cap and I didn't see a dispenser in the corner of the lid area. Can you enlighten me on that feature, please?
Ben - that's a fine-looking circa 1957-1958 GE range in the background! What's the story on the range? Also, I have the mate to that 1972 Filter Flo if you're ever interested in making it a pair.

Eugene - I didn't catch the POD - but I suspect it was the add for the dispenser that would actually sit over top the lint-filter/gyrator. Very similar to the GE dispenser - fill it up before the wash and set the dispenser over the gyrator. A dispenser was also available for the skinny post highlander series as well - which is the only one I've seen (I think Don [Jetaction] has one). This was quickly replaced in late 63/1964 with the '02 series machines that had the integrated dispenser in the lint filter that we are used to seeing all the way through the end.
Lawrence - ah, the Stratoliner range! Plan on using that full time in the kitchen, but right now it lives in the basement while the kitchen/bathroom are in a state of chaos. Found the range a few years back at an antique salvage center. Never seen a 30 in version of it and should make for some nice cooking once things settle down.

Final Update -
Today I decided to clean up the machine and run a load of whites through it. After some testing post clean-up - the water injector will need replacing; but I wasn't going to allow that to foil my Sunday afternoon plans.

Took a second to wipe down the base, checking for rust. Not sure what I was thinking; there isn't any!
Strange that this has a factory installed square frame motor - remember reading about this in the service bulletins that the switch started around this time.

Glam - but with a lid on! The top is almost perfect.
Control close-up. Had to change out the timer knob from a different panel - the original wasn't grabbing very well. Now the replacement spins through the Mallory timer with ease.
The Scotch ID tag. For those service men in the field who weren't quite sure when they walked up to the machine to know what model it was. Otherwise you'd have to pull the washer away from the wall to see the model tag.
Hood up. Two quarters weren't quite enough to keep the lid all the way open, but had a cool effect.
