Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

The weather here in Florida has been great. Yesterday I had to end up turning the AC back on. It got up to 87 and was just beautiful. This morning when I got up it was 75 already. I do love to look at snow but sure don't miss all the dark rainy, messy days that we use to have in Illinois. Jeff I hope that storm misses all of you.

Chicago is getting BURIED...

I made it to work, took me a hour to drive 8 miles to work this morning, and I'm the only one here!

I have decided my car is GOING. Someone tell me why I would buy a V8 rear drive sedan that won't go thru snow for anything!!!
SUV here I come!

Southern Chicago suburbs

We are getting pounded too and more is beginning to come down again. I bet we have 10 inches already and they are saying 4-6 more by noon. :(

No school for my kids but we do have a dentist appt we have to get to. I called and they are open so off we go after hubby gets the driveway shoveled. Wouldn't you know that the snowblower is in for repairs! LOL

Not Fair

Hey Chicago is taking all the snow, /SMILES/S10.gifNOT FAIR!!/SMILES/S10.gif Send some back you guys, right this minute!

All the snow is to the south/SMILES/S12.gif, we have bright blue skies this morning.

I agree ... NOT FAIR!!!

Did you look at the Weather Channel's radar? This storm is "scooting" right around us ... DRATS!!

Hey Robert ... it is clouding up here a bit; is that the flurries we can expect this weekend? Doggone it, anyway!

Nothing better than a big winter storm. My snowblower is all serviced, I've got plenty of gas, the cupboards are full ... we can be ready in a moment's notice.

COME ON, NOW ... send it back Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin. Please share ... :-)

well if I could I would!

I can't even begin to tell you how much I HATE snow, and how much I hate driving my car in the snow...
I'd send it up there if I could

What are ya talking about Jeff - Crown Vic's just LOVE the weather you've been getting in Chicago! So agile, especially when accelerating from a stop light on an incline. hehe

Sitting back, relaxing, sans snow with 21 degree temps @ 10:29 AM today in Northeast Iowa. No snow. I feel for the South, and those who happen to live next a lake east of me ;-)

Ben

Jeff ... Whatever you do, be safe today and get home OK!!

No, no, V8 real wheel drive in snow; I'm sure that is no fun! That's how I learned to drive in my Dad's big 1970's Buick Electra ... what a "dog" in the snow; used to scare me to death!

I love the all wheel drive, traction control, V6 that I have with my Ford 500; it is really a safer ride ... you feel a lot more secure.

As with all winter driving ... slow and steady is much better! And, of course, TRY not to panic.

Those first few rides I take to and from work are a little treacherous; until I get the hang. I take the County roads in; they keep them clear but they can be icy in spots.

Don't hate the snow ... it is beautiful, isn't it? Are you from Illinois? Why are you still there?

I will always hate snow!!!

Illinois native here, and I have always hated winter. I don't know why I am still here!

My car is a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis, horrible on the snow, and with the damn traction control on it a real pain!!!
Use to have a 2001 Taurus, was ok on the snow...

I suppose I shouldn't complain too much, its only a couple of months out of the year, and not constant then either.
The upside of this is my dog Jack had a BLAST romping thru the snow this morning. He loves it!!!

My explorer does ok in the snow... Not to bad... My truck is a rwd 4cyl 5-speed.. It don't go... Miss my Infiniti for that.... But hey, the last time i drove in snow my car whent sliding off the road into a ditch.... If it snows, i stay home or go to my moms in South Carolina for a couple days and work from there..There's no driving for me

BTW, It's 72 degrees, 40 mph winds and it's supposed to drop 37 degrees in 12 hours...Oh lord.. And that snow sure looks like it's a headin this way

Nope unfortunately all we can squeeze out here today is a frozen pond. I just took this picture over my lunch hour. I love having the pond across the street from us and not having to look at any neighbors. Its like country living in the middle of the city.

I've taken a couple of pics too...

with my cell phone today... have emailed them home and will post when I get out of work

yes I am working a full day... business as usual here... :-(

(I have been mentally flipping off my manager and HER manager all day...)

hmm Robert living accross from a lake

In the state of 10,000 lakes? No, I won't believe it.

It's like,, big puddles everywhere!

"Minnesota, the big puddle state." LOL

It's all good. This is why I moved back from LA in 87' There's no water in LA, other than the whole ocean thing. But you can't drink that and the sharks will you up.

Geoff, I *am* from there originally, a fact I'd just as soon forget. I suffered for 43 years and enough is enough. It was long past time for me to get down off the cross and do something about it. LA is my home now, and like paradise to me. I didn't realize how miserable I was until after the fact. Weatherwise, nothing much ever changes here, and that's the way I like it. For me at least, this is just *so* much easier, and I love being able to get out all year round.

Beautiful place back there in a lot of ways, but definitely not for me for day to day living. I find the people that live there most successfully are those who embrace the climatological variety and just go with it. For me, it was like living in the equivalent of a plastic bubble 10 1/2 months out of the year, since I was only comfortable in a controlled environment most of the time. Now, I can plan visits during the 6-8 weeks of the year the climate is agreeable to me!

I completely missed that you had lived in Arizona, I knew about Oregon. Wow...

No our little tiny neighborhood pond does not count as part of the 10,000. There used to be houses across the street before we moved in though. This entire neighborhood was a lake back in the 1920’s and they drained it as they city expanded and built houses. The problem across the street was this was the very center and deepest section of the lake and the houses across the street had a tendency to have their basements flooded. So in the 1990’s the city bought the houses back and knocked them down and turned it back into a small pond and park. We call it Lake Gladys because our dog Gladys goes swimming in the Pond during the summer.

I do love the privacy of not having any houses across the street from us. And when we drive down Park Avenue (avenue across the pond) at night and our lights are on you can see our bright orange living room reflecting on the lake. It’s easy to tell which house is the gay one on our block LOL.

LOL,

I can just see you salivating while looking out a window in hopes for a good Tornado. NOT just the Trailer park kind either. GRRRR.

I can relate.

This morning

about 8am out the window of my office... was still coming down pretty hard at this time
