Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hi Ricky,
I’m very jealous of your vintage dishwasher collection!!! I love that particular Kenwood a great deal, I’ve got a few magazine adds for it and I think a service manual for it somewhere. I’d dearly love to get my hands on a Hoover AutoJet too!
Thanks for the pictures and info, they’re great.

Paul

I installed one of these when I was doing up the kitchen while I was living in York. Must have been around 1992. I found some old photos but they are not the clearest and some dodgy fashion choices. The units had already been ordered before the thought of a dishwasher which is why it’s not under the sink. Spot the old washer too.

You can see how flimsy the door was and I think it was quite noisy. It had a flap that opened the steam vent at the end of the cycle so you got a stream of steam out the front.

I think it performed quite well although I’d not had use of a dishwasher before then.

Hi Paul

As an addition, I found this pick in the 1996 Seeboard catalogue.

All the best

Hello Paul.

Thought you might like a picture of me loading the kenwood where it’s currently living. Not for seeing pictures of me of course. But look in background. Not one but two …

Richard 🤣

That looks like such a cute little machine. I'd love to play with one of those. Question, what is the plastic thing to the left of the silverware basket. I noticed that in a few pictures.

'Detergent Save System'

I think that was just a marketing ploy, based on Zanussi's idea of having a downward-firing water jet on the bottom spray arm.

With the Zanussi method, that bottom arm water jet swept down the hollow, central funnel of this filter, out through the bottom hole between the 'press to release tabs'. This filter sat inside a cylindrical nylon mesh filter, hence the release tabs.

The water jet was supposed to assist in dissolving detergent in the sump.
