Not seen much on the news but did catch the newsflash on local radio Signal 1.

Crewe was hardly affected but I dont know how the centre of it all which was Grimsby and surrounding area fayred.

Paul and myself were watching some rubbish on TV recouperating and reminiscing after a long weekend of fun fun fun in Cardiff when it hit, we spent a good 4 minutes or so sat feeling it quake after the main rumble, our house shook quite badly though even for a solidly built turb of the last century terrace.

Quite unnerving I must say, we thought initially it was a train passing nearby.

Blimey......

See its not just Folkestone that has them(ours was last June)

They said an Earthquake of that magnitude only strikes the UK every 50 years.....

Sign of things to come??????

Did the earth move for you too?

Hope everyone is well. YIKES.

The New York City area was hit by two earthquakes (to my remebrance) about 25 years ago, when I was a weeeeee lady..... er laddie, I mean.

It is a very bizarre feeling indeed to think a truck /lorrie has driven through your living room.

Ten second tremor for me in Winchester. Wouldn't have been bothered but I was burning the midnight oil dismantling wardrobes so I was a bit scared for about half an hour afterwards.

My mother reports a 60 second tremor in Sheffield. No damage done to people or properties from what I've heard so far though

shaken

Well being in Lincolnshire we had the brunt of the shake. I had just got into a deep trance with a hypnosis tape and next thing i know the other half is leaping in the air and the room is shaking. We lept up and I realised it must be an earthquake.

There is some damage around the streets here with fallen chimneys etc but our place is ok. The cat acted funny all day yesterday and went quite mad at one point even biting and ripping my hand to shreds which she has never ever done b4 not even a nip off her in the past. She was like a possessed demon. I guess animals are more sensitive than us.

Anyway i've had no sleep so look like hell and lucky not in work today.

And trust LavamatJon to be out of the country when this happens! Missed all the fun. I was tempted to txt him in the night but the charges put me off to txt abroad lol.

Lol i missed the whole thing! & im in lincoln! Close as you can get to the centre of it all! I was asleep! lol! crikey! something that happens not to often here and i miss it! Well i had been a wake most of the night before with my asthma playing me up, maybe thats why i was in a such a deep sleep last night!

Least everyones okay!

I had to be in Paris when all this happened... we only live 5 or 6 miles away from the epicentre (just down the road from Darren), mum said that it was scary, woke my dad up and my sister ran up to mum's room screaming, though apparently the dogs didn't seem to get wound up! No real damage here although I now have a huge crack along my bedroom wall! Have the local news on at the moment and there are some places in the county that have been hit quite hard, mum recorded last night's Look North for me so I will watch that later see what all the fuss was about lol. As a geography geek (I don't do A level geography for nothing :-D) stuff like this really interests me so I was really bummed I missed it :-(.

I just love them

I also wish all are safe across the lake. But living in Southern California, you get really used to them. I guess it's like the hurricanes or tornados of the southern and central regions of the US. You know you'll get them and you just prepare for them. Just be sure you have an Emergency Kit available, plenty of water/rations, and a pre-planned strategy when one does hit.

Lately several faults have been extremely active..... (I wonder what that means...???)

All types of animals are sensitive to earthquakes. We had one here about 25 years ago and I was watching the fish tank in the living room. All of a sudden the fish were thrashing around in the tank bouncing off the cover and glass. I had never seen them do this before. Then within 5 minutes we had the quake. I'll never forget that incident.
