LOL!

have you not seen that before?

Its been out around 5 years down here.

if its new in scotland i wonder why its taken so long to come out.

Its a way better product than Bold 2 in 1 - the Persil actually cleans your clothes LOL :)

That's been around for quite a long time in Ireland too. I suspect it's not on the shelves as often as bold as Unilever's merchandising is often less agressive than P&G.

I'm constantly noticing that while Persil Powders and tablets get shelf space here that Persil Small and Mighty is being squeezed out by the P&G products.

Probably because...

I'm always in Tesco, and the local Tesco has weird policies of not putting anything new on the shelves for months & months. (Only in the past month has P&G's 'Power' liquids been on display). Tesco likes to replace Brand Names with its own rubbish. And it likes to remove things to 'push' alternative lines.

Unless the Co-Op has ancient stock (and that's not beyond the realms of possibility, as they were, a few years ago still selling the Finish 'Dual Layer' Dishwasher Tablets!

Tescos

Very odd......

Its been on my stores shelves since it came out 5 years odd ago.

Its also odd that your local one dosnt stock the new lines as they come out.

Tesco Crewe gets things as they come out - generally scheduled into a new merchandising plan.

I find this whole Tesco thing odd and I doubt that its a national thing as stores have their own choices - im a Stock Control Clerk and am responsible for the product ranges and what we stock - I have ultimate control over what lines we have on

Beers Wines and Spirits
Frozen Food
Household

If I think a particular item dosnt sell I change the system and I discontinue the product after the residual stock sells thru.

So your local store probably has Stock Control Clerks that dont do a very good job and are slow to react to the local market as well as they should do.

Recently we had a new plan down for laundry detergent and the shelves were re arranged.
This meant on the generic new plan we lost the 5kg boxes of Persil Bio to make way for boxes of Ariel Bio 5kg.

We sell 4 times the amount of Persil Bio 5kg to Ariel so it didnt make sense to stock 2 facings of Ariel and no persil.
I have requested persil be re stocked and we cut down on Ariels shelf space to meet demand.

It could also be that the merchandising team are slow to put out new products and have a backlog in the warehouse pmpl.

Have to agree, Tesco are crap at getting new stuff - they always seem to be last and Sainsbury's and Asda are always first! Tesco have only just got the 2 new(ish) Comfort tropicals, the new P&G '2x' liquids and the new Bold and Lenor products too - and not even the full range at that.

And they are ALWAYS getting rid of stuff, then it mysteriously reappears months later. Persil & Ariel Colour powder 30 wash packs went for a long time, just because Tesco didn't think we should be able to buy them it seemed, but both are now back (for now).

I noticed Persil Bio 50 wash packs now have "discontinued" on the shelves in all Tescos near me too - but there's plenty of Tesco own label crap and shelves heaving with various Non-Bios as well. :-(

It's like that with all products though - I hate Tesco's (and the rest) "you can buy what we say you can buy" attitude.

I did spot the new look Comfort concentrates in there though - they now come in a very odd shape bottle indeed!

Persil with Comfort is weird - the Small & Mighty version is rank. The powder and tablets, well it's just Persil with a different scent. When it first came out it had a really hiked up price, but I think they soon saw sense and eventually priced it in line with other Persil products. It's pretty pointless as it's not a 2in1 like Bold and there's no added benefit over regular Persil Bio.

Speaking of detergents...

I also noticed in Tesco, that the only brand of dishwasher powder now available is 'Finish'. They've gotten rid of McBride's 'Clean & Fresh' dishwasher powder, as well as their own 'Tesco' brand of powder.

Lidl no longer stocks their 'W5' dishwasher powder.

The Co-Op still has their own dishwasher powder (now made in Netherlands, I think).

Co-Op also has an 'Eco' laundry powder similar to 'Ecover', but with optical brighteners, and it is made in France.

I wonder what happened to McBride's detergent contracts with all the big retailers?
