Lab grown meat of all varieties are on the horizon.
If it keeps animals from suffering I'm all for it.

I wonder what the nutrition levels will be... and taste and consistency.

But people have been eating perfectly shaped nuggets for decades now so I don't think most people will be too concerned.

I dread to think

about the side effects! i have enough trouble with gas from antibiotic free, all natural grass fed chicken.
My sister in law is an RN. Docotors told her anything from a lab has side effects or consequences. Every biologic medication, etc. Then many patients must take something to counter-act them. Every dose of a drug can also over time onset dimensia. Even Ibuprofin. I have ecsema, and some psoriasis, and am looking into accupuncture.
Most nsurance covers it if physician prescribed. It can be less costly than many drugs.
Our niece has U.C. and has it monthly. She has been able to stop taking the biologic to manage it. You have several treatments in the beginning, and then periodic ones following.

Need your chicken slaughtered in a humane manner? There's the kosher product, and even the Amish have a way to slaughter meat according to humane standards given they use animals for transport and respect the animal kingdom..

Seen something similar for beef, made from cattle in this "new but nilhistic" method as in lab meat, I found just as unappealing...

Please do not end farming, for this artificial and probably not as safe method of providing this important food group...

Those kids remind me of the joke about what happens from eating eggs, and I hope you can even get those in a conventional farm produced method there too!

highly processed food

It just amazes me how many different foods or food EXPERIENCES we humans have created for ourselves, and even for some other animals.

It's not like we all just eat raw spinach and lettuce and carrots every day which is primarily all our bodies really need.
No, there is so much stuff it's truly amazing and a tribute to the human experience.
Walk into any grocery store and be amazed.

It's all just to tantalize and entertain a small sensory portion of our brains.

A lot of what some call "food" we shouldn't be eating. Broad things like refined sugar our bodies have absolutely no use for but yet, how many foods is refined sugar cane found in. And how many of us have sugar cravings or addictions we have had to deal with?

Apparently lab grown beef hamburgers are a thing but they aren't cost effective YET. Its just a matter of time and money. It's not cheap to feed and slaughter cattle either.

 
It amazes me how much "processed" food we consume; often, without even realizing it. This includes things that we think of as healthy.
That being said, when these engineered meats; chicken, beef, (and whatever others they come up with) hit the shelves, I'm hoping that they're required to identify them as such. Just so that folks who aren't on board with the whole thing can still choose the more organic option.
 
There is no humane way to kill any living animal to eat

I am very excited about these new meat alternatives I regularly buy the impossible burger at Burger King. They taste very good.

This is a very important thing to do with climate change. We waste far too much energy and land and water growing animals to be slaughtered and eaten.

I’m not a vegetarian I understand the importance of the protein we get from meat for the diet of most people, we just need to find more sustainable ways to do this, and it sounds like the scientists are on the right path.

I’ve always believed in better living through science.

I'm surprised at how healthy I seemingly am when I mainly consume chips and sour cream, have all this pop flowing and coffee multiple times a day (reheating it, though, hardly matches a new pot!)

 

I'm also in the ranks of over-consuming what mostly tastes good, and a recent power outage found me lugging twenties of cartons of ice cream to my dad's house, which surprisingly had power, whereas he has far more incidents of his electricity going out than we do, but the power company may have finally done that one more to finally prevent those frequent electrical shortages in his territory, once mine and experiencing them often too...

 

So, likewise, I hardly participate in the healthiest food group I'd once benefitted from, though finding myself tired and less energetic the more fruits and vegetables I'd thought I was consuming to maintain the opposite as I'd simply gotten older, and more living the You Are What You Eat...
