Cadillac Quick vac

When I was around 9 or 10 yrs old. We had a neighbor with an upright vac in that same color but it was more modern then that one, but the handle was cream color and the rubber handle quip was tan, the main body and rug nozzle was tan but the headlight cover was cream color, I just wished i would have noticed what brand it was, it was a cross between a Royal and a Kirby, I asked Tom Gasko What brand he thought it was and he said a cadillac but it wasn't made like the pic of the one jeff just posted.

I hope that I'm not too late for the fun on this post :-

I don't consider myself a vac collector but I have picked up a few that realy struck my fancy. I've been told that some of them are a bit hard to find. I'll leave that opinion up to all of you experts!! :-)

The first is an early Regina electric.

I love Air Ways!!

I don't know how to tell the models apart but I'm sure that you all know what I've got <laugh>. I understand that the twin motor is pretty hard to find. The single motor on was just in to nice of a condition to pass up. I kick myself for passing on a never been used, with attachements/hose and hang tag, single motor Air Way upright! :-( Oh...it was only $60!

Air-Way model

Rich,

Beautiful Air-Way Super Chief you have there. The model number should be on the handle on the on/off switch. I'm guessing it is a 36 or 37?

The bag looks original as does the cord. How does it run? I have the earlier model, the Chief, model 35 and it still cleans beautifully.

Hi Charlie,

Thanks! I looked for a number but there isn't any. I looked on the motor plate with no luck and the switch just says " Air Way. Toledo Ohio. ON-OFF"

It works great. The beater bars are still in great shape and I have removed them so that they don't break. I have been told, by other collectors that have seen it up close, that the bag is correct. UGLY!!! I like the needlepoint bag better :-)

How did you get yours so shiny???

Rich

Shiny

Rich,

When I got the Air-Way from another collector, she had had it buffed out by a vacuum store owner friend. She found the vacuum at a sewing/vacuum store in Kewascum, WI and the buffing was done in Milwaukee.

It is a lovely machine and it too, has the beater bars but I leave them on with the nozzle in a raised position. The horse hair bristle brushes look they were never used. I have two original correct bags left but use a modified Hoover C bag.

A closer look

Here is a closer shot of the front.

Now if I could just find the tools, hose and original bag! I've seen the original bag and the woven are prettier. I have a very nice woven one that I am going to try to modify to fit on this one.

Charlie, that's a beautiful Airway you have - what a neat design. Is it heavy?

All these vacs are great - Rich, your very early vacs are so fun, I've never seen anything that old other than in collections...

Jeff - our Jacks would get along great - pop in the box too for a little summer vacation!

The Air-Way is very light and easy to maneuver. I took a "new" old bag, (I bought on ebay), to my tailor yesterday with the one from the Air-Way and she is going to use the one on the vacuum as a pattern to create a better looking "new" old bag for the vacuum. Does this even make sense?

Anyway, I did tell Tania about it yesterday and when it is done, I will post another picture.

Kenmore Ottoman

As some of you know, stuff tends to just walk in here. Here is a pic of a Kenmore rocket Ottoman - my rarest. So, like, was this Ottoman (which has loups in the lid for accessories) sold with the vac??? Is there any reason I should not cannibalize this thing for my sculptures?

she had had it buffed out by a vacuum store

Charlie,
That's why it looks so fantastic. I polished mine with Mothers Mag & Aluminum polish but it didn't come out that shiny. You have a great looking vac!!!

I have seen a twin motor with a needlepoint bag, many years ago, but the $400 price tag scared me away!

Thanks! I always get a kick out of seeing the roots of what we use today. What fascinates me even more is that most of these items still work AND work better than what we have on the store shelves today.

Hoover Conquest 507

Thanks for posting the pictures of the USA Juniors! I've always wanted to see what some of the models looked like.

My rarest machine is the Conquest 507 cylinder. Quite different to the USA Conquest, I'm sure you'll agree! These are very rare in the UK, and this one is complete - even down to the radiator brush and the turbo brush - I think it was the only Hoover cleaner to ever come with these two tools as standard!

I'm not a vac collector, but here is what I consider my rarest vac. It's a Feeney Vacuum Cleaner from around the turn of the 20th century. It's hand-powered.
