I think the 444 we used was Fred's, I contributed the 913, 574 Convertible, and mom's model 33 Convertible. All in all it was a great display, everything looked so nice together! It was definately a colorful display. <br
Thanks for the good wishes on the smoking too!
 
still in St Louis this morning. due to my self-destructive sleep schedule and Coreys early AM Sat flight out, i didnt get to sleep until 6am Sat. i was soo sorry for missing the tour of Ms Holleran's (ruth?) store/home and Tom Gaskos home. this will be the highlight of the year. there was always something interesting going on and everyone was so kind. i also saw a Heavy Duty commercial Hoover that i never knew existed. im still thinking about that Hoover (mdl 972) today."Lady Hibbard" and "sideshow bob" are some of my memories. will have to *dust off* my Hoover 913 and Royal 880 when i get home!

I could go on and on about what a wonderful convention the VCCC had but I think as people continue to post you will see for yourselves <br
What was really great was the number of folks that attended that are automaticwasher.com members. We really are beginning to get a good cross over <br

Wow!

What a great convention! I had a great time. I was told that this convention was the largest ever. There were so many vacuums that it was difficult to walk around...now that IS a lot of vacs! Jeff, Fred and I pooled our resources and created a display of the 1963 Hoover line up. I brought a model 2000 slimline, model 334, orange floor polisher, tools, dustette, pixie, ads and etc for the display. It was a lot of fun and it turned out beautifully. Thanks to all that attended. Most of all, it was nice to meet so many people in person for the first time. I cannot wait until we can get together again <br

No longer a VCCC Convention Virgin

Hello to All
I would like to express my gratitude for being able to attend what was to become one of my life's most memorable events. The VCCC convention introduced me to some of the nicest people I have ever met under one roof, all with common interests, welcoming, loving, and kind. The displays were amazing, the food wonderful, and the company not to be surpassed. I want to express some thanks: To Jeff Parker for encouraging me to attend and making me feel so welcome; to Evan Rodgers who was a fantastic travel partner; to Stan Kann for his tour of the Fox Theatre and his home; and to each and every one of the attendees who made this convention so memorable and enjoyable. I wouldn't miss another VCCC convention for the world. It is good to know that there are quite a few "cross-over" club members as well. The intermingling of the two club's members is like a marriage made in heaven. Thank you again to all. LOL

Well it sure looks like things went well and everyone had fun. Maybe with a year's notice I can psyche myself into suffering a few days in midwest heat to visit Omaha for the next convention, esp. being my friend Greg's town <br
Why oh why did they have to make so few of those red convertibles. I'm on a major red kick right now and could use one of those, and the color actually works really nicely <br
Oh well, maybe I'll come across one of those red-hooded commercial ones that looks like a 1060 with a stainless steel base <br
What's fun is looking at that nice group picture of Tom's and seeing how many of those items I have!
 
There is really nothing that I can add that hasn't already been shared!! We had such a great time at the vacuum convention!! Thanks guys for sharing your great pictures with us it was like being there all over again!! Most of all it was so good to see so many of you again!! I am already excited about next year!! Terry
 
I was wondering if you were home yet Terry. I had seen you'd had dinner in St. Louis last night. I called this afternoon and you weren't home. Thought perhaps you were out checking stock on the new Constellations. :-)

David: I looked it up in my Hoover book, there were just under 2900 of those big model 972's made.. <br
I have to echo everyone else's sentiment, it was a fantastic convention!
Next years will be even better!

What a great weekend!! Like others, there is very little I can add to express what a fun time we all had - I saw so many machines that I'd never seen, and may never see again, and the lengths that some of the collectors had gone to restoring their machines is just amazing <br
I took many pictures and will post an album this evening with some highlights of the trip <br
Thanks again VCCC members for making all so fun for us newbies!
 
The Cleaning Competition!

Every year, the convention schedule of events includes a cleaning competition for attendees vacuum cleaners. Different categories are set up for various machine types and the playing field is made level with consistent testing procedures and materials. This rug is a gift from the Kirby company and is an industry standard carpet that all manufacturers use to test the performance of their machines. The "dirt" used is a mixture of 1/3 fine sand which settles deep into the pile, 1/3 capture carpet cleaner which settles into the middle of the carpet pile and finally, 1/3 talcum powder which settles nearer the top of the pile. 8 oz. of this mixture is agitated into the carpet with brushes and then the contestant is allowed 8 forward and back strokes (total of 16 strokes) within a maximum time of two minutes. After the time/stroke allowance has passed, a Dyson upright vacuum (donated by Dyson - serial number: 1) is used as the "control machine" to then remove as much remaining "dirt" as possible which is weighed and recorded. The winning machines left the least amount of dirt in the rug and are awarded ribbons in their categories.
