Veterans Day November 11th

Just wanted to to salute the Veterans out there including my late father pictured. He served in World War II, Korea and Viet Nam. Twenty-four years active military service. Happy Veterans Day!

I'll second your nod to everyone in the armed forces. The public school in our little burg puts on a huge Veteran's Day program every year. Choirs, bands, a speaker---the whole nine yards.

The high school band plays a medley of all the armed forces' songs, and the veterans stand when theirs is played. It's quite moving. They also honor veteran's who have died, each designated by a red rose under a spotlight while Taps is played.

A Big Salute to All Vets

My dad was in the 101st Airborne Division glider infantry for the Normandy invasion. His company was also part of the inspiration for "Saving Private Ryan." Going to Normandy with him and seeing it for real, in particular the cemeteries, and being inside one of those gliders and realizing that in such aircaft, every landing was a crash landing, gave me an appreciation that I hadn't previously recognized. I kind of get emotional when I think of what my dad went through, and all those years of rolling my eyes at yet another war story after dinner with company over. No doubt about it, that was therapy for him. For something he'd never, ever get over.

Serving for one war is far too much! I can't imagine serving 3!!

Hats off to your dad and ALL servicemen, whether alive or deceased!

I always say, thank you for your service, they appreciate the acknowledgment. Nancy Grace always gives a moment of respect and tells the viewers a little bit about americans in the service. I think it's the right thing to do. alr2903
