Ben, I really should have thought about checking the air gap BEFORE I installed the washer - when the water flows there are what looks like chunks of earth washing out. I had tons of termite tubes on the whole kitchen centre, so I am hoping it "all come out in the wash" lol.
Darrell, I didn't use the dishwasher air gap due to space considerations. Odd thing about both appliances is that they will siphon water back into the machine if the drain was in water; guess that's why GE had the air gaps. Funny thing about the dishwasher air gap is that there is really a space between the machine outflow and the drain hook up. The washer isn't like that at all...
