Just ridiculous.

For that price you buy Commercial and have a oven almost 4 times that size.

But someone will buy it for looks and get Take out, Eat Out, or call a caterer.

It's brand new,

and is a commercial quality range. Not inexpensive, not for Viking, Wolf, La Cournue, Aga, Bartozzini, etc. Either someones designer goofed, or the client wanted that look, but rejected it after delivery not realizing the small oven size.
The cook top is excellent, so if I had the space, I'd keep it, and install larger wall ovens, and use it as a keep warm oven, rather than a warming drawer. That free's up a storage drawer, or for one of those "Sharp" microwave drawer ovens.
Any real estate from La Jolla and east from Miramesa blvd. up to Carmel Mountain rd. and vicinity is in the higher market value for Sand Diego county outside of the near downtown beach communities.

If that thing was in my house I would give up cooking, impossible to clean, hard to use, ovens too low to the floor, and the frequent and difficult to perform repairs make these a money maker for the service guys for a while till owners get tired spending money on them and from then on more and more features are just left broken.

The part my 11 year old GE range needs is no longer available. I can not use my oven above 350 for more than a half an hour or it shuts down.
Can you say total piece of $2,600.oo chit new in 2007?

The 50 year old GE 36 inch P7 range in my sister house still works. The one with the oven window heat shield you pull up before setting the clean cycle.

Cabins up north are inexpensive, one can wash clothes on a wash board, boil the water on a fire pit, or fire place, and cook on them. Fire wood, fresh and well water, Deer, fish, rabbit are plenty too.
Get a good diesel generator, some solar panels, maybe even make bio diesel fuel, and you can live off the grid. Most areas now have cellular service, and internet access, or you can use an air plug in card. Cable tv or stream from computer or Roku, etc.
Ya never know either, the way things seem at times, may even become a survival necessity, short of an emp or nuke attack.

I haven't seen it in years. It does have a large side storage door though.
Her ex lives there still, not her. Once their youngest graduates university, he has to buy her out or sell. Then we can sell my fathers house where she is living.
I don't care if she wants to live their indefinately, but the others want their money. She doesn't want to keep it long term either.
Anyhow, our range needs some limit switches for the fans that cool the electronics, or both, and the switches are no longer available.
Each fan is about $90, it has two. A new control board is $350. Add labor, and well, $500 is half the cost of a new low feature range.
I rarely use convection, and I'd rather travel than lay out thousands for junk appliances anymore.

Hi Mike, your GE range likley only needs to have both fan motors and fan blades cleaned, if the oven still works at all you just have dirty- sluggish cooling fan motors, I have done this service call several times on these GE ranges, total cost should be well less than $200, in fact you could probably do it yourself.

 

I am sure you are correct that to older GE P-7 range must be a 40" model, keep in mind that all appliances need some service if they are used much, that GE P-7 oven was not used everyday for 50 years with no repairs, they were great ovens but they complicated and did have a number of different problems especially if used a lot.

I also read that online, so I pulled it out to clean the back and side vents.They were dust free, so I didn't remove the back panel. Should I?
I keep the underneath clean with my central vac wonder wand.
The fans were coming on after the oven being on about 20 minutes. When new, immediately, now not at all, or only the right one and it, and it makes a rattling noise.
Our old Kenmore built by GE had a blower to cool the electronics on the bottom right of the drawer. That range was also still working fine when we replaced it.
I wish we would have remodeled for a free standing range now. The new ones are 2 inches deeper, so will stick out from the cabinet that much more because the vent is top rear, not between the console and oven door. My quartz counter top was made 24 inches deep, with a 2 inch section behind the range.

Non Functioning Cooling Fan

As I mentioned you can usually take these motors and fans clean and lubricate and they are good to go, however in some cases you might have to replace the fan assembly.

Yesterday was a snow day and I fired up my Viking to bake two hot pockets and two chicken sandwiches.

Talk about being extra.. Lol.

to cook a feast or a small meal in. So the residual heat it put in your kitchen allowed the furnace to work less a little.
I removed the back, and one fan was binding more than the other. Felt greasy to the touch. I removed the rubber fan end bearing caps, cleaned them with a q-tip, vacuumed the fans good, applied W-D40 very sparingly to the motor shafts and they took off like heck!
