I received as a gift an old box of ALL laundry detergent. I assume it was a sample box that came along the washing machine.
Now ALL detergents are made by "Sun Products Corporation" , previously by "Unilever" - "LEVER". But on this box it's written "all is a product of DETERGENTS INC." I would like to know who was the first producer of ALL detergent.
I also learnd on the internet that Monsanto was the producer of ALL.
Maybe someone af you knows something more.
Thanks,
Ingemar

How we picked brands back then

To the best of my knowlege Monsanto was the originator of all "ALL" products. We were a confirmed "DISHWASHER ALL" household, probably because a sample of it came with our first dishwasher. According to Laundress, I believe, the dishwasher detergent was largely based on sodium hydroxide, or lye, and relied on the very hot water available back then to do its work. We weren't an ALL laundry detergent household, however, because I remember when we had the first service call on our new Filter-flo because a sock had floated over the inner tub into the outer tub and blocked the drain. The GE technician told us to switch to DASH to avoid excessive sudsing. All would have worked as well.

All

Guys my Uncle was one of the Chemist that worked on All back ine the 50s. He worked for Monsanto in Nitro Wv. He will get a laugh when he finds out someone rememberd the old detergent.
I will call him and ask if he wants to get on here and tell any stories about the stuff....... Charlie

Oh yes Charlie, that would really be great. He sure knows lots of interesting things we don't.
Thanks, Ingemar
