I was watching the first episodes of the Beverly Hillbillies (1963?). Their washer and dryer were clearly Maytag, having the big round timer in the center of the control panel. Anyone know what brand dishwasher was used?

The 1965 "Gidget" show, with Sally Field, had a neat episode where Gidget is at her sisters apartment. Her sister had just gotten a new Frigidaire Jet Action washer. It was operating with the lid up and you could see the up & down agitator working away. Her sister was saving up trading stamps to buy the matching dryer and had them sitting next to the machine. Gidget (if I remember correctly) scares her sister's cat which jumps onto the cabinet and knocks all the books of trading stamps into the washer and you can see the agitator action pulling them under water.

It's always nice to see "guest" appearances by major appliances!

TV Appliances

In an early Ma and Pa Kettle episode Ma has a Thor automatic and Sunbeam Mixmaster model 7. They have hit it rich and moved into the House of Tomorrow. A swindler is trying to get their money and Ma and Pa are gone. The kids rig a booby trap and rope is tied to the agitator of the Thor. It snags the robber by the ankle, hoists him into the air and the raises and drops him as the rope loosens and tightens around the agitator.
The Nelsons had Hotpoint
Donna Reed Had Lady Kenmore
Dennis the Menace had a Bendix Combo
Samantha had a kitchen filled with Frigidaire Custom Imperial and Larry Tate had a coppertone Maytag set.
I'll ponder and see what my mind conspires to remember. I was also so interested in mixers, I spent more time trying to spot them.

What ever Happened to Baby Jane

Bette Davis and Joan Crawford had a Maytag AMP and a Sunbeam model 11

Beverly HillBillies

In the first years granny had a matched set of Maytags, with dials, then a Maytag washer with pushbutton control and dialed dryer and then finally both washer and dryer were Push Button. Her Fridge was a Subzero and the dishwasher was a WasteKing. In the early shows the fridges were next to the opening to the laundry and later were moved across the "kitchen and were behind the table.

On an episode of "The F.B.I." a woman had a 52 Kenmore in the basement.
Does anyone remember what machine The Baxters had on "Hazel"? I seem to remember all their appliances were sunny yellow.

I recognize Lisa's Maytag front loading washer/dryer combo, but what brand is her dishwasher?

I'm suprised nobody's mentioned the classic center-dial Alvacado Maytag 608 that always a star in basement scenes on "That seventies show" on Fox TV.

That is a wonderful old Sunbeam "Carousel" Rotisserie. I had one and and used it plum to death and just loved it. Oh, that thing could roast a capon to perfection. Perfect duck too----nice and crispy on the outside and full of juice inside. I'll never know why they stopped making those things----too good I guess.

LeFever has one I've admired for years now but just can't get him to let go of it. Hint, hint, hint!

I love you people! How the hell can you tell that that's a GE mobile maid in Lisa Douglas' kitchen?

Does any one remember that Samantha and Darrin started out with Coppertone Maytags and then switched to offset-dial GM Jet
Action Frigidaires as soon as Chevrolet became the sponsor? (Not to mention the dreamy Frigidaire Flair that was used in many SE shots throughout the show).

Even Gladys Kravitz and Abner had a nice pair of Maytags...

With Out A Trace

On tonights episode was a scene where a kid was sitting on
a vintage Avocado Maytag and it looked like the Fockers
turquoise Bendix was in the same row. It was a fast scene,
I couldn't identfy any others, great, the day after this thread started!

Roseanne

I think Dan and Roseanne Connor had a set of harvest gold maytags on their back porch/laundry room. I also noticed the avocado green on That Seventies Show, Cybrvanr!
Thanks, NeptuneBob for taking me to Depeche Mode's Master and Servant, they are one of my favorite bands!

My Name is Earl - I've seen that WCI stack set a couple of weeks ago, Joy was doing laundry. They must have painted it coppertone to match the trailer. I've tried pausing and slow-mo to get a glimpse of the dishwasher in the kitchen, I think it's avocado but not sure what it is.

Roseanne - I think in the beginning of the show, they had a Frigidaire 1-18 with a missing timer knob on the washer. The Maytag set came a little later in the series. Roseanne's sister put a load of wash in it and used a pliers or vice grip to turn the timer. Don't forget the Poppy Frigidaire refrigerator in the kitchen! Much later in the series Dan bought Rosanne a GE Mobile Maid dishwasher - she was as thrilled as we all would have been...

Have you folks talked about this already?

Are we the only ones who are supposed to notice that in the weird "Dharma" hatch (supposedly set up in the Seventies) there's a brand new Whirlpool Duet pair? Is this supposed to be significant because I noticed them after Hurely mentioned that "the washer and dryer seem newer than everything else here"?

So somehow the Whirlpool people got to this stupid island before the plane crashed? Oy.
Are "the others" disgruntled Whirlpool repair people?

and how many of you actually know how to pronounce, "Adewale Akinnouye-Agbaje"?

I can't believe you all missed the most obvious one....

HOME IMPROVEMENT...what appears to be a set of '68 Rollermatics, and then switched to White Westinghouse later in the episodes.

Oh yeah, almost forgot....

Yours, Mine and Ours (older one with Lucille Ball), she had what appears to be her own Maytag laundromat in the basement.

Maytags, beautiful maytags!!!

I actually have the movie that I picked up reciently. It looks as though she has two sets of 1968 Maytags. BTW, On Rosanne, they had gold ( sunburst yellow if you want to be technical) at first, and then later in the series, Gold Frigidaires.I had thougt that the Conners had given the Maytags to Jackie when she bought her house and they bought themselves another set????It is a thought`````right:)

And now for something completely different

There is a Monty Python episode where Mrs. Premise and Mrs. Conclusion (John Cleese and Graham Chapman) discuss "how to put your budgie down" in a laundromat full of turquoise Speed Queens--lots of top-loaders and one big dryer, brand name clearly visible.

Actually Roseanne's Maytag's were a color called Cal

which replaced Castillian Yellow approx. 1968......They also could have been Cordoba Copper or Spanish Avacado...as Maytag used Spanish/Latin names for its colors starting with the 06 series. PATRICK COFFEY
