Oh I'd love to have these. I was just saying to PhilR the other day how difficult it is to find Rollermatics and this one is a RapidDry. How do you buy from Estate Sales when they're not within driving distance?
 
Ken, isn't yours exactly the same? WIN? I'd love to find a set like that around here!

These look like the last of the solid tub Deep Action, not Jet Cone agitator models. My Aunt Margaret had the dryer with a SQ twitub until she needed surgery. Then, she sold the SQ and bought a Frigidaire Gold Crown because she knew I recomended it. She replaced that in 1998 wit a Maytag pair and redid her kitchen in all GE appliances. Those were sold after her son died and her husband had already passed. She now lives in northern Florida.
 
Those are some rare machines that anybody would cherish if they got them. You don't see too many Frigidaire's with the offset timer control anymore.

John- Good luck in trying to get them. I hope everything pans out for you and you end up being the lucky recipient!

No, Phil, one of mine is similar but:

a. It came to me broken, and I've been trying to harvest parts out of it.

b. It's white

c. It's not a programmed machine; I don't like programmed machines, but these are in much better condition.

 

If I found a pair like these in good condition, I'd use them as daily drivers. IMHO Rapidry Rollermatics were as close as top-loaders came, in the '60's, to today's HE machines: very efficient with water usage and fast spin.

Best of luck getting these. I have rarely seen any OLD or vintage washers and dryers on here honestly. The majority of machines people sell are Whirlpool Kenmore direct drives, followed up by Maytags (pre-Whilpool). I just happened to look at the sale, searching for vintage vacuums. And voila there they were...

The sad part about buying for estate sales in general, is that usually (around me anyway here in Michigan) the washers and dryers aren't part of said sale. They are usually being left for the sale of the home to occur, and more times often than not, they are just standard landfill fodder, and nothing as unique and uncommon as these were. PLUS, if your not there jonny-on-the-spot, they could be lost to scrappers, or at best a family of 19 needing a set for their wash that quickly ruins such an old machine.

And, RARELY do they offer any type of shipping arrangements either. It's either C.O.D or nothing...

Looks to be one of the very last solid tub rapidry machines. That last picture of the white one is exactly the set I had for many years that Robert & Greg got about 10 or so years ago. Damn good machines!

"....there's gold in them thar hills...." Michigan still has major great finds. Last year I drove to Michigan to get a pair of Poppy Red 1-18s, at midnight in a dark cold field, also discovered on AW. They were in great condition, had been used in someone's vacation home, very low usage. When I view all the postings on AW, I'm amazed at all that yet remains to be discovered in that area. Just hoping things work out. And yes, I totally agree with the challenges of Estate Sale issues - as it usually works like that in my area too. I'm praying these don't go to a shredder or worse - an unappreciative individual that will overload them and destroy.

Didn't Get Them

The Estate Sale representative had told me they could not sell to me prior to Thursday. She instructed me by text message to call back on Thursday afternoon, when she could sell them to me over the phone. I called several times today with no answer. After trying the alternate phone number on their website, was told by another rep that I should have called at 9:05 am and informed that they were sold. After explaining the instructions I'd received from his company, he apologized saying they'd been very busy.

Hope someone got them who will take care of them.

Maybe another time.
 
Darn

I was literally just getting ready to send this message asking if anyone had gone to get them. Too bad. If someone hadn't gone to get them, I was going to call a family member nearby (in Huntsville) and asked them to go see if they could pick them up. Too bad...
 
I just came from the estate sale and saw the units in person. They had a tag that said sold to whoever and had paid over the phone
