Vintage ( Coppertone)1968 Sears Kenmore Washer and Gas Dryer - $300 (Long Beach)

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Very nice. Id really like to find a KM set of that vintage but with an electric dryer.

That's the washer I grew up with---my mom had it until about 1981 or so. I fondly recall getting to help with the diapers for my brother...I got to supervise the dumping of the yellow diaper pail into the washer, then pushing down the safety switch to spin them out before washing. My dad would bring home 50lb bags of Sterox (local janitor supply's brand of phosphate laundry detergent) which went into a fibre drum next to the washing machine with the Kenmore measuring cup thrown into it.

Brainard, if they are still available (ad was posted 24 days ago), let me know and I can pick them up for you since they are close by.   E-mail or private message me if you get a response.

Shipping

I have been in contact with the seller and tried to arrange shipping, unfortunately, it would be a crazy amount. (Alot more than Uship quoted). Is there another way to get these things across the country without paying $1000+?
Any help would be appreciated,
Thank You,

Tyler,

I have used U ship many times.  I am having a monitor top shipped from San Jose to St. Louis for $275 soon.  Have you posted this set as a shipment for bids?  Don't just take the first offer.

I would think you could have this done for $600.

Good luck

I did post them as a set, with all the dimensions etc. I got a bid at $1100, before I posted them, USHIP had quoted it through the automatic system at like 600, which isn't bad. Just not paying that much for shipping (1100) lol.
Thank you,
-Tyler

Always wait a few days with Uship bids

As the first are almost always the highest. Sometimes you may have to relist once or twice before getting a good bid.

With Uship it usually comes down to someone coming from or going through wherever the item is and ditto to delivery (going to your area or through it). As such sometimes you get very reasonable bids but they can be last minute . That is someone who is making a trip in a few days and needs a response ASAP.

Uship tightened things up from several years ago regarding shippers. This was good as it got rid of the bad apples. But now you have many more "professional" guys, which is good. But also rates have risen, which is natural one supposes.

With anything large like an appliance you want to specify in your Uship listing accurate size, weight, etc.... and if there will be assistance at pick-up location to load. I always put in that want "White Glove" and covered transportation. Don't want my appliances traveling on the back of a pick-up truck during a rain storm.
