I remember the "General Electric Carousel of Progress" at Disneyland (I'm sure it's long gone, I haven't been back since 1971) had a section devoted to life in the 1920's. That scene had extension cords coming out of the ceiling light fixture cris-crossing the room connecting to various appliances. If that was an accurate depiction of how people used electricity in those days it would bear out Stefan's statement at the very beginning of this thread.

Actually, the Carousel of Progress is still there! That scene was pretty funny when the whole entire neighborhood shorts out and everything goes dark!

The "modern day" scene was updated in the late 90's and it now shows a family using laptop computers, playing video games with a V.R. helmet, and a voice-activated home automation system that goes haywire when Dad starts asking the kids to do things. I won't give away what happens to those who haven't been to Disney World lately!
