Rotary Phone - Western Electric

That Mushroom W.E. rotary phone must have a movie history with Marilyn Monroe or ? What are these eBay sellers smokin'?

Since you mentioned rotary and Western Electric - I just mounted this two-toned Western Electric on the wall, between kitchen and living room. While it's not exactly 50s colorful or 60s hip, it's fun to use; as crazy as it sounds, it slows one down and reminds me of less crazy-paced times. ( I have many other digital phones(incl. an AT&T Touch-a-Matic 1600 and it's retro in the digital world...as we need digital to reply to "if you'd like to speak to a real person, press 10...I'm sorry, there's no mailbox for that number...") ! The dial days were so quiet and easy.

And how many of you remember calling the time on your rotary phone? GR 21212 is what we used dial, and hear the lady say, "At the tone, the time will be...". And we'd set our clocks and thought that was cool.

Louie : I don't what it is, and all I can find on the bottom is a serial number and some other really obscure alpha-numeric numbers that yield zip on a search. I did find one...sold already...on etsy.com
Thanks, I love it - and I have never seen one like it, either.

Used cars? BR-549 ? I called and it said, "Don't cook tonight, call Chicken Delight". (wink)

Where did you get yours Phil? Looking at the handset, it can't be too old.I'm sure there has to be a touch tone version of it. But dial, thats really nice!

The handset is more like early to mid 1980's IF we compare it to my AT&T Touch-a-Matic 1600 (1983-85)with the same headset.

It does look like it should have a touch tone version, with all that space on it.

I forget where I found it...but it was one of the other thrift shops- I think it was Park Avenue Thrift. Funny, I've been picking up little things for a year, and forgot the sources. It's part of the disease of thrifting, right? ;-)

Polkanut(Tim): I don't remember that phone number; but just to digress shortly....will never forget this Ford dealer who did everything to sell a car; used and new cars....he had his own style, even if it was outrageous, dumb, and/or obnoxious:
