Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Hey Reply 55

Rusty racks? I have some 90's and 80's Kitchenaid dishwashers that came with horribly rusty racks that I had to replace, but all other parts of the machines are CLEAN AND GREAT.
Racks take lots of abuse, a fine machine can run for years and years after the racks need replacement.

Tim, Mark : Post #55 Lady K Dishwasher Model 587.7xxxx

Regarding rusty racks, I was thinking of washing clothes and sometimes we'd get rust showing up from GKW(godknowswhere), and thought "what happens to dishes if there's rust on the racks? Do they sometimes flick off rust and plastic covering onto your dishes after the cycles? I don't know it's not a big deal, but you answered my question.

That Lady K is gone. Anyone here grab it?

W Fridges...

That SS one is amazing
Growing up we had the 2 door version of the single door fridge that lasted until 1974.

In 1954, a new plant was opened in Columbus for refrigerators...today the plant is the Big Lots distribution center.

Aerial view of the just completed Westinghouse Appliance manufacturing plant on West Broad Street, near Columbus, Ohio. The new 45 million-dollar appliance plant is the fourth to be operated by the Company's Electric Appliance Division and contains approximately two million square feet of floor space and at top capacity can produce 4,000 major appliances a day. Extending almost half-a-mile in length, the factory building contains four manufacturing aisles, each 200 feet wide and extending nearly 1500 feet. These aisles lead in a straight line production pattern to the warehouse area which has a storage capacity of 100,000 major household appliances. The two-story office building extends from the plant in a T pattern and is highlighted by an impressive entrance of marble and stone. The plant is situated on a 315 acre site in Franklin Township, just west of Columbus.

Odd range

The range in reply #70 doesn't look like any GE I've ever seen before - is it perhaps a Canadian model? It looks more like a Hotpoint product to me, as the handles look like the ones on their mid 50's wall ovens. However, I couldn't find any ads showing a Hotpoint 30" model with a full-width oven until '58, and the cabinet was different on those. Anyone know anymore about this item?

I was also thinking that the range in reply #70 didn't look GE... I was thinking maybe Philco? Or Kelvinator? But not GE.

And that poppy red set in #72 has to be the set that was rescued last week... there can't be two matched poppy red sets out there for sale!

The Westinghouse Continental in #73 is unusual... I have never seen one of those upper oven ranges with a stainless/non window door.
