That range dates from 1954, the last year that GE had the porcelain evenizer over the Calrod bake elements and the year for those special cast dials. John said there was too much heated mass for baking and they had trouble with over browning on the bottoms of things. I have the fully tricked out 24" version of this range, model J 245 with light and clock that looks like brand new. A man was selling it because the woman he was marrying said that she had to have something more modern to cook on. Poor man, obviously a slave to testosterone. The neat thing about mine is that the red GE medallion in between the words General Electric is the oven indicator light to show when the oven elements are on!
