Vintage GE Washer

On Sunday I spent a hours listing things on ebay and had great luck as the "buy it now" option was moving things pretty well. Listed a Vintage portable GE and several other misc things with more listings to come this week. Also have a Speed Queen Twin Tub that I am going to part with. I used to have one of these as a kid

Is this one with the blue pulsator at the bottom? If so what is the model number if you would be so kind. I live in KY so buying it is unfortunately out of the question, but I would like the model number so that I know what to look for. Thanks!

We had one when I was a young kid, but it only lasted a couple months. the control panel was different. Heres my answer for Tim, this is probably the one with the black pulsator because I found A GE like this one on E-bay a year ago and it
had a black pulsator. The one I used to have had the blue pulsator disc too. Now i have two questions for Don. First question is, during the drain cycle, does the pump make a high noise and get's higher after it's completly drained? The second question is, does it make grinding noises when you move the drum around and when it comes to a complete stop? The one I used to own did those things.

And the answer is....

Black pulsator in this baby. It does seem to rev up as it picks up speed going into spin, but it does not make any grinding noises when I move the tub around.

They were made by Hitachi for GE. The exact same machine in and also sold here by GE and you should be able to find reference to Hitachi on the workings....

Portable Automatics...

I've personally never been much for portable autos, but the little GE machines have always struck me for some reason. We used the little yellow GE in the house for some time when the transmission in our 72' Maytag finally went out, it worked quite well. As I recall we bought it at the local thrift store for $10, the only thing being wrong with it was it's plastic lid was shattered. Ended up epoxying the lid together and more or less playing with it after that, it was a really neat machine. For some reason I've always held a place for GE/Hotpoint washers both large and small even though the 1st machine I had any experience with was an early 60's Kenmore BD with the scrubber agitator. At the time that I had the little GE I had a 3 year old full size Hotpoint with the filter-flo collar that I loved as well. I still love thrift stores, but I long for the days of $20 filter-flo's and $10 Hoovers which I can remember used to be abound there.

Anyone have more pictures of any of these or better yet any video?

One more thing...

The yellow one I had with the BLUE pulsator had a temp control as well as 3 levels, it had 2 inlets in the back and this wierd sink clamp thing. It was very elaborate for a sink adapter and had 2 hoses coming out of it and a valve for washer or water, seemed like was a permanent install 2-piece thing. I'd bet that part is impossible to find.

Mine didn't run on the sink it ran in a very small washroom in a area with not very wide clearance but it was wider than the washer. I would want a video of a cycle myself. It's been thirteen years since I've last seen the beautiful GE peddler washer in action, despite it being years since the last time I've seen it run I remember a lot about them.
