Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Stephanie:

You'll be very happy with these if they become yours. They're later 806's, with every feature Maytag offered at the time. They are very flexible machines. I have a pair of these in Almond as daily drivers, in addition to the early 806's I'm working on as time permits.

It's bliss to have the wide range of options these washers offer - one of my loads might be an extra-large load of whites, needing a soak, normal agitation, a high hot-water level, and a warm rinse. The next might be a small load of brights, needing a low cold-water level, a cold rinse, and gentle agitation. The washer does both - and lots more - beautifully.

The dryer is also great. If you get these, the dryer has a lighted drum, and often, the light is burned out and the light's lens is broken or missing. This needs to be corrected; you can still get the lens. If it's not present, lint goes into the interior of the dryer, which creates a fire hazard pretty quickly. The light lens is located inside the door opening on the front bulkhead, at about the 10 o'clock position. You will either feel the lens (good) or a hole (project time).

I hope these are yours soon!

Lighted Consoles

Do they have them? If you go back to the posting, she put up a pic of the inside of the dryer and the washer. The dryer looks perfect inside except for a small wear spot on the back of the drum. The inside of the tub looks nice, too.

I have a vehicle lined up and am heading out at 5 am. Hopefully by tomorrow afternoon they will be in my laundry room!

Lighted Consoles - YES!

They do have them. They work only when the machines are running; there isn't a provision to use them when the machines aren't actually in a cycle.

If they don't work when you get them, they're usually quite easy to fix. New bulbs often do the trick, and if that doesn't work, new starters are indicated. Both bulbs and starters are hardware-store items. Or Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, etc.

You'll love them. Nothing makes you feel more on top of your game as a housekeeper than a pair of 806s all lit up and humming away.

I'm so excited

and I just can't hide it!!! :) Hopefully there won't be any bad surprises when I get there. The woman came down to $100 on the phone without me trying. I'm going to offer $75 and see if she takes it. She wants them GONE. Her husband bought them for her as a surprise and she got mad because they are "old" and she wants a new set. Her loss is my gain...

Stephanie:

If I were you, I'd be in the truck NOW.

The Internet and this site will see to it that someone is going to get them in the next day or so.

And it will be the first person to put money into the seller's hand.

Jus' sayin'.

Stephanie:

I definitely understand about transport difficulties.

You might also try to go ahead and pay her. If she has a PayPal account, you could get the money to her that way. I've done that. It seals the deal and you can rest a little easier.

Then....

....That's actually a plus - she probably won't be able to move fast enough to sell them to someone else in the meantime.

Best of luck to you, and please let us all know how it turns out.
