I remember a lady up the street that lived in a circa 1800's house doing her laundry in a portable Hoover washer that she would roll up to the kitchem sink like a portable dishwasher. She bought it from Sears in the late 60's. Then she replaced it with a new one in the early 70's. That one was harvest gold with a wood grain cover. She would do her their small stuff in the Hoover and send the largr bath towels, sheets, etc to the cleaners. I wish I had asked her why she had to replace the first Hoover so soon. She didn't throw anything away. That first Hoover after it broke down went in a shed on the back of her garage with every other appliance she had ever owned. An appliance collector's dream come true, but murder for anyone elase that had to clean it out!
