Robert, what year is this from???   And do you think (assume) it's similer internally to your '57 Speed Queen?

Thanks!

Kevin

Thanks for the info Robert and WOW, what a fantastic find!  YAY and CONGRATS!!!!

I can't wait to see more photos (and perhaps a video?) once you go through it!!

Hmm... now the question is... with one in - one out... what will be going out???

Kevin

Most likely the '57 Speed Queen :-), but I put a lot of new parts in their which will have to be transferred to this new machine.

Good thing I have nice strong Fred as a helper, Dr. said no heavy lifting for me for three to six months due to an sports injury on my arm.

Speed Queen timers

Robert----you rebuilt the timer on your other SQ and posted lots of great info, but where did you get the timer contact pads for repair/replace/resolder?

Thanks

Congrats on this "new" one, what a prize! Keep us posted--

I wonder did SQ use two motors for its first model as opposed to solenoids like other early Beam machines from the 1940s????? I suspect not but I guess we will find out tonight.

That is the first SQ -- weren't they late to the automatic game, so it isn't 1947, but close...... I had one, but sold it to Ted (bless his heart)... The tub was porcelain, and the agitator was also replaced with a newer black plastic number... The badge on the front was missing also... Ted also has the matching SS top dryer (from John Lefever)...

I put it an aluminum agitator for the first wash, but now I switched it back. I do now believe that the bakelite agitator might have been the original. The machine is clearly low use and seems to work well. The timer motor needed changing the pump is leaking, but otherwise it seems to be just fine. The Fluid Drive could use some oil as well, but it washes!
