hi im up grading my vinyl floor tiles in  my kitchen (see imperial under colston dishwasher) Im getting a firm to lay plywood and lay professional grade tiles that are similar to those in hospitals etc. The area is 10m2, and if i buy 3 colors it will be enough for 12m2 4 colors would be wasteful as i'd have 16m2. So what colors to pick and what pattern? im thinking a light blue (like the doors),  a light yellow, and a cream. This is similar to what's down and obviously i'm restricted to the color pallet of the manufacturers. i'd like any advice from you guys, and also on what pattern?. If you have any appliance pics from 50's 60's or vinyl adverts to give me ideas that would be great.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

Richard

Your kitchen looks marvelous!  The colors are well-coordinated and I like the way the floor pattern is repeated on the wall.  I assume there must be an issue with the current flooring (I noticed a wrinkle in one photo near the doorway to another room) which is prompting you to replace the tile.  Here is one of many sites  I found when looking for retro floor tile patterns.   Flooring need not be boring!

Thanks Neil

Hi the flooring is 11 years old , and i laid it originally, i used marley floor tiles directly over the weyrock wooden floor sheets, this means in certain lights you can see the screw heads, grain etc especially when its clean and polished. I also have scratched it dragging around appliances. I have a bit of money saved to get it done professionally so are welcome to any ideas. Thanks for the attachment i'll have a good look around that website.

Thanks again

Can I just say that I think your kitchen looks fantastic, but my goodness you must be dusting your knick knacks all the day long. I think to stick with the same plaette would be very advisable, although for a more authentic feel I think the tiles should be laid in a more random pattern than you have there, although the layout as you have it is certainly perfectly acceptable to my eye

ha ha

thanks Al I should be dusting the knick knacks al day long ahem! but if they are above eye level they get whiz through the dishwasher every now and then! It some times looks a little clear than the day i took the pics as i have to say i have a weakness for buying kitchen things, especially vintage ones. I aim to try and get a bigger kitchen if i ever move home with less clutter.

I'll have a play around with colored paper to try some floor ideas.
