Wow, Jeff that's a nice collection you have there - the pink Custom Imperial set is stunning!  If you'd ever like to add a Westinghouse Food Crafter mixer to the collection let me know...

The green washer is an Easy. I would like a Westinghouse mixer in the kitchen ( right now I am using my grandmothers mix master she got as a wedding gift in 1937). the pink washer has some problems although I don't think it was used much. It needs a water mixing value, and a new pump, but the real problem is that it rusted through the outer tub at the welds for the bottom snubber plate. The plate is there and it seems sound, but it leaks water pretty bad. The dryer works very well on auto dry but no heat on low or timed (although the timer moves). Anyone is welcome to come see the collection. I am planning on having them at Mopar's Wash-in this summer. Jeff

That is an

odd place to develop a leak. It must have been a factory fault on the weld lines. Those tubs usually have a heavy coat of enamel inside and out. My '57 was used to death, the grandmother went blind and could only use that machine because she knew the controls from memory so the grandson kept replacing the bearings , I think he said he did it 3 times since the 70's. That's a lot of washing. And now it needs new bearings again. But the tub and enamel looks fine.

Well fortunate for you these slant fronts keep popping up like Maytags, they are survivors, you'll find a parts donor.

Cool Westinghouse collection

Hi Jed, I would love to see your collection sometime. Inlet valve for the 57 could be rebuilt unless the body is cracked also we have new water pumps for those if you need one.

The holes in the Outer tub were actually very common around weld points it's very hard to get porcelain enamel to adhear to the weld areas so this happens frequently, you can usually just fill the holes and seal them with epoxy or RTV silicone rubber.

They just resuscitated me after losing it - out of intensive a.c.u.(appliance care unit) after viewing the 1957 Custom Imperials. Those are "to die for". Wow.
