Got a WTW4950XW2,I think it is a 2012-cord and knobs were missing,but looks low usage with no belt dust on pulleys or fan and turns real nice. This is a washplate machine and might be a keeper if an easy fix-next few days might splice a cord on and see what happens...

I hope it washes well. Not to get off topic, but did the Frigidaire 18 inch dishwashers alternate their spray arms ever? I'm just curious. Now back to the subject. On a slightly related note, I believe the Whirlpool commercial washers and dryers should be VMW.

Do not know anything about an 18" Frigidaire,but do know about 18"Danby dishwashers Wash performance can be iffy with some loads in a washplate VMW,but with right load washes well enough.

X in the model is 2010. The serial has the factory production date, year and week, which is more accurate for age being that a given model can be produced for more than one year.

How thick is the belt on these?

2010 model-year produced 9th week of 2012. WP service portal indicates engineering revisions of 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 (although only warranty and energy guide are referenced for the 4). Revisions don't necessarily indicate yearly iterations.

VMW belts are flat, 1/4"-ish thick (I don't have one on-hand to measure, although I've handled them during a few repairs that were brought to me), and ribbed on the side that contacts the pulleys.

I thought the commercial Whirlpool and Maytag washers have a thicker belt.

ETA: Maybe order/buy belts of both types so you can physically examine them?

I would like to, but it seems to me that both the Whirlpool and Maytag commercial models are no different from each other. I am talking about both commercial units. I suspect the name plates are the only differences.

Make sure to manually spin the drum and check the suspension rods on it. That’s what you need to do with VMWs.

It's a shame they're not as durable as the direct drives were.

No modern machine is really, except maybe Speed Queen but even Speed Queen is slowly going downhill.

You can sell it if it works, you can sell it for cheaper if it has dings and scratches on it, has a bad bearing, etc.

These VMWs with the washplates seem to have better suspension rods than the ones with the porcelain coated drum and agitator, the washplate VMWs with the bigger drums (4.2 to 4.3 cu ft) are kind of exceptions to this.

My brother has the Whirlpool WTW4800XQ4 washer with agitator, and it needed suspension rods and it needs them again because the aftermarket rods he installed failed in a few months and when I visited I saw the washer shake violently. Bearings also noisy on that machine.
