On a whim and looking for a better apy on a savings account i opend both up at wa mu.com has any one ever used them soly as an onlin bank?? AM wondering how this all works??? Gotta figure this out... ANy help is appricated.. Did i make a boo boo?

Granny and I got into WaMu when our local bank was bought by them. It was a physical location, not solely on-line. Didn't last long, WaMu found the market to be too small, sold again in less than two years. Didn't have any specific trouble with them. They did have free online bill payment which triggered me into using the service. Again, it was a physical branch location, so I can't say anything about using them via only online access. I've never used any bank that way.

We went with WaMu for my mom's equity line of credit and moved all of her accounts over there. They've been OK but my sister is the one who uses their online service to pay my mom's bills. Her only complaint is the lead time required for the bill to actually be paid. She has her own accounts at B of A and raves about their online system. I personally hate B of A so would never consider them. WaMu has its quirks and drawbacks like any bank, but I think overall they are more customer focused than most.

We switched my mom to WaMu from Citibank, which is by far the worst operation out there currently. I'm extremely happy with my credit union. If given the choice between a regular bank and a credit union, I'd go with a CU every time.

Thanks.. AM going to give it a shot.. I get all my funds direct deposit and if do need a local branch i still have that account open. This will be interesting.. Will give every one my thoughts in a few months

I have used them for a Bank........

Just never online before. Frankly, and I do mean frankly, they really blow!! In this part of the country, they are in every Fred Meyer store, most of them at least.and then on every other street corner. I used them when I lived in Utah, and well, lets just say that they are just like any big bank that you will encounter, but worse, everyone else banks there as well. Long lines, long waits on hold, even to talk to the automated system, which I always thought was strange. They are by far the largest Savings bank in the nation, although, for this part of the world based in Seattle, they lack badly in the problem resolution department. My problem was simply this, they handed my checks out to someone else, though the drive thru, and they used them! Taking care of the problem, well, that became almost a part time job for a while.in the meantime, I had to open another local bank account in Utah, where I was living at the time, I still have that account, .I would tell everyone that I can, go to a Credit Union, or a small bank.I would not deal with Washingon Mutual for anything! They truely suck, and if I could not see them to resolve an issue, it would be a pain. You may get lucky and not have a problem, and maybe they have changed in ten years, although, some how I really doubt it.......it has just gotten bigger because they have gotten bigger.my two cents.......

I had an account with WAMU for years and saw them change from a "nice" bank to an expensive corporation that would nickel and dime you to death. Their "free checking" is only free is you never use it ;-)

Finally, I switched to a credit union, and I'm much happier. Should have done it years ago.

Well what i was told orignaly and what is realtiy are two diffrent things.. WHo wants to mail deposits into a bank?
