The panel shots--OH MY LORD IN HEAVEN !!! The original CL photo gave no clue as to the really brand new condition of these machines.

Are there any new details regarding how these gems remained so pristine?

Speaking of heaven, could we get a shot of you in your beekeenee before your coronation which might have a prohibitive dress code ?

Even the tiny shriveled raisin heart of Homer Simpson's boss,  Mister Dithers,  would beat hard seeing your generosity.

With beloved Terry and Kelly gone, I always wondered who would become the next living saint of  Aworg. No more wondering. IT'S YOU, DUDE!!!

John, on that you are wrong.

The original 906s used the same Mallory timer as the 902s with the separate advance mechanism.

I looked it up in the service manuals and "Let's Talk Service" bulletins and according to the factory documentation the changeover to the Kingston timer took place in August of 1968.  The change from the wire-wound baffles to the "bar baffles" in the HOH dryers occurred in November of 1968 at the factory.

Hi Mark,

The serial #'s are BF on both machines - March 1966. I haven't looked "under the hood", but I suspect it's the the timer with the advance motor on one end with the long metal bar that extends into the timer. I remember an old post with a picture of one of these timers a long time ago, but I've never seen one myself. I just remember a complicated looking gadget with wires going everywhere. That's all I'm going to say on the subject. I'll leave the rest up to Drew to post during his restoration. Thanks for asking.

Michael - I didn't ask the lady much about the history of the machines. I mostly wanted to get them loaded and get back on the road.

LOVED your reaction - truly made me LOL!

Looks like you've got yourself some really special Maytags and some REALLY special friends. Congratulations again on both counts. I look forward to seeing them after you take possession.

A906 Timer Change

Thanks Mark for the correction, I guess that I have never seen one of the first A906s. My old boss at the MT Home Appliance Store where I worked had an Avocado A906 which he claimed was the first of the A906s, now when I think about it now it could not have been the first because avocado would not have been available on the first A906s.

This is one of the things that I love about this site is that I often learn something new.
