I've noticed something odd about the Pink GE Wall-Mount refrigerator (other than it being both pink and wall-mounted ;-)

The light bulb keeps burning out. They only last a few weeks then poof! burned out. Any thoughts as to why this may be happening? Everything else about it works fine.

How much does your fridge vibrate while the compressor's running? What's probably happening is that the unit is vibrating, and weakening the filament in the light bulb. I've had problems with the standard 40 watt appliance bulbs not lasting too long in dryers. It seems as though the filaments are not as well supported in newer light bulbs as they used to be in years gone by.

You could try getting one of the heavy duty "rough service" bulbs like what's used in a garage door opener, or even better, going with a non-edison type bulb, like a compact fluorescent, or an LED bulb.

Uhh....

would a compact flourescent work in such a continuously cold environment?

Trying a "rough service" bulb is a thing to try, after testing the circuit....

(There are times when I just love rough service!)

One other idea...

I had a fridge where that kept happening and I inspected the socket (with power off) and it was wet. I think that the bulb was not sitting in their tightly, allowing moisture in and shorting it out. After I cleaned it and the contacts, and then carefully made sure the bulb was seated in properly, I never had that problem again. Of course, it could also have been a vibration issue and the intermittent contact caused some corrosion.

One other thought....

Are the bulbs you used from the same place?

Possibly the shipment was dropped or defective? Just recently I purchased a "starburst" light fixture and a bunch of extra bulbs from the lady that sold it to me. Every single bulb burned out in a couple weeks, as well as all the spares she sold me.

So I ordered the same model of GE bulbs off the internet (same brand) and these have worked just fine.

Just a thought to try a bulb from a completely different store/source.
