I picked this up at Savers today.  Information on the underside indicates it's a model RMI, and it has three speeds.  I've never seen one like it.  I'm wondering what the flat-bottom beater design is supposed to accomplish.

It's literally a hand-held model.  There is no way to rest it in a standing position due to the cord coming out the back (although I was able to balance it for the picture).  It also has no "eject" mechanism that I can see.

That's a nice piece...sort of a "professional kitchen" look, especially with those industrial beaters. You always seem to find some great stuff at that Savers on W. San Carlos and Bascom. When I used to go there all they seemed to have was junk and an ocean of used clothing (now called vintage clothing) that had a variety of stains...some of which were moving. Obviously they have upgraded in order to attract the area's shopping aristocracy.

That Savers is the only store worth going to anymore.  Goodwill has been a junk dealer for quite some time now, and Salvation Army has followed suit.  The majority of my finds are at Savers now.

Ralph,

On some hand mixers I've used the speed control doubles as the beater eject button.  I love the shape of those beaters they look like they could mix anything in no time.

My mom used that mixer for everything before she got the HB stand mixer with timer and the little window for the speed selections. That Waring was one very loud mixer. I remember using it mostly over the white porcelain double boiler for Seven Minute Frosting.

Tom, I'm glad to hear that it's a capable mixer.  Sometimes I wonder about little hand models with only three speeds.  It doesn't seem all that loud to me.  No worse than other hand mixers I've known.  I guess under a load it might sound different.

Tim, I thought about the speed control doubling as an eject button but it's just a plain thumbwheel.  The beaters are definitely interesting.  For a few bucks I thought this one was worth grabbing.
