We are looking at replacing a washing machine belonging to an elderly relative of mine with a washer-dryer as she occasionally needs to dry small volumes of clothes.
I am well aware that most washer-dryers are basically washing machines with a small hairdryer attached and are almost as useless as a chocolate teapot when it comes to drying, but are there any good ones?
I was thinking perhaps along the lines of the Aqualits Washer-dryer as it's got a huge drum relative to other similar machines. I've also heard good things about Electrolux, Bosch and LG.
I have experienced a Whirlpool (rebadged Servis) washer-dryer and wow was it useless!
We don't really want to stretch the budget as far as Miele etc, so there's no point in even going into those.
However we're prepared to go up to a decent upper middle-range price.
Any recomendations / personal experiences would be great.
Also, she's quite OK with dealing with controls, but we don't want anything too fiddly. The Aqualtis seemed like a good comprimise as it's exceptionally user-friendly and also has the option of 4 user-programmable preset buttons for favourite cycles. This would really be quite a cool feature.
What we don't want is fiddly controls that require her to turn the knob to D then X and press Q while simultaniously holding START...
Simple, self-explanatory ... she's certainly not put off by electronic / digital controls, just as long as they're not 'fiddly'.
