I have a Whirlpool Duet Sport that will occasionally deposit rust stains on the clothes. This has happened 4 times and 3 of the four times this has happened I was using bleach on a load of whites. The staining happened to only one piece of clothing in the load. So much of today's washers have plastic parts. The tub is stainless steel and the staining pattern is sort of "fluid" a splotch that fades to the sides. The size of the stain has increased over time.
the door is always left open to air dry after use and I do not frequently use the clean washer feature. A fan is always running in the utility room too for air circulation. Is there something I can do to prevent this occurring again?
So far I have not damaged a dress shirt and I feel certain it will eventually happen.
What could be the possible source? I have no rust staining occurring with the dishwasher, with any sinks, or other bathroom fixtures. So I doubt it is the pipes
