Anybody have one of these or a similar brand or know someone who does that could give some feedback on how well it works?
Does it clean the clothes ok without detergent?
Have seen that a commercial version is available to laundromats.

Ozone has been commonly used for smoke odor removal for many years. It is not suitable for certain materials such as rubber (elastics), and certain fabrics, as they can be damaged. I would be afraid of fading, and of deteriation of elastic in clothing. Many dry cleaners and fire damage restoration companies have gotten away from using it, and now use hydroxyl treatments instead.

I have never had stinky clothes, towels or linens come out of any of my washing machines so I can imagine that these are cold water washing people and, judging by some of the comments, not too smart. I am glad if this device gave them cleaner fabrics. Ozone is used in swimming pool and hot tub water purification so it's not some radical idea. I would imagine if you can afford warm and hot water and decent detergent, this device is not necessary. If you never learned good laundry practices, it's probably a good thing to have. I guess it gives ozonated water in every fill, wash and rinses.

Aerus

Has a device that is supposed to Ozonate the water in your washer. Consumer testers found it to be as effective as washing with no detergent. In other words, effectiveness was nill.
