Just got the call. Kiki was up with the woman we adopted her from since we were supposed to go away this past weekend. She hasn't been doing well. Lost most of her fur to adrenal disease (common in ferrets), and she was about 8 or so years old which is right up there for the little dears. Last couple of days she hadn't been eating or drinking a lot because of an intestinal bug her and a few of the other ferretts had. It was a little too much for her, and we lost her.

By now, she's crossed the Rainbow Bridge, has all her fur back, and is terrorizing the rest of the ferrets again. RIP little angel!

Snickerdoodle-

was my ferret's name and I had her for 11 years!!She'd know when I was getting ready to leave and would hide my shoes! She would wonder all around the house and liked company. It amazed me how small a hole they can go into! She'd crawl under my dishwasher during the cycle to keep warm and scared my other half one morning coming out from underneath. My sympathy to you in your loss.

So sorry....

So sorry to hear it Rich & Chuck. Love on the other fuzzy ones you have and give them all loving you can!

Thanks, all!

Heather, for better or worse, she was the last of our three.

She was also the most independent. When Rich first met her at the shelter, Kym (runs the shelter) used to have to keep her away from all the other fuzz-butts because she would attack them! For some reason, Kiki took a liking to Rich and fell asleep in his t-shirt pocket! That's how small (but fiesty) she was.

Rich was there picking up Jojo and Max from babysitting, and decided then that Kiki would be my 40th birthday present. But, there was only one carrier! Jojo and Max got along great, but what to do with Kiki? He figured he'd put her in and see what happened. In a very short time, the three of them were pig-piled in the same hammock in the carrier, sleeping, and it was that way from then on. She was always a little more independent, but tolerated the other two.

Guaranteed she's dominated the pasta plate the other two thought they were going to have to themselves again for dinner tonight. That's the one food they all really seemed to enjoy- with sauce, of course!

Here's a pic of the three of them, sleeping, in a pig-pile. Jojo is on the bottom, Max is on top to the right, and Kiki is holding down the end.

God, I miss her................

"her and a few of the other ferretts had"

Chuck,

I guess it was the wording that made me think that you still had more ferrets at home. Now I understand that you were talking about the other's at the babysitters.

Love that picture! They look so comfy and happy!

So we are going through the same thing, lonely house syndrome. :(

lonely house syndrome

Yes, Heather, it seems as though we are. Sucks, huh?

Tank was a Peke, yeah? We had 2 Pekes- Manchu and Mokey. Manchu was a "fag" Peke- all frilly, fuzzy, and beautiful when coiffed. Mokey was a butch little girl with her brown flat fur. They were such good dogs, though.

Manchu lost an eye while he was being neglected by the woman who used him as a show dog. He was a middle-of-the-night-type rescue through friends, and the woman's father. Never let that eye thing stop him... he used to chase Rich's Grandfather's shepherd down the yard!!! I'll have to find that VHS and see if I can get it to digital one of these days.

Mokey was a rescue dog from Buddy Dog. Tough little bitch! What personalities they have, huh??

You take care, and we'll do the same!

Thanks!

Chuck

Chuck and Rich, I am sorry for your great loss, but you admitted that she was failing and in your love for her you would want her spirit set free from her sick body. Death is always a shock. I hope that you can comfort each other with memories of the love she gave, received and inspired.

So sorry to hear of your loss.

I have a ferret named Pedro. He came into my life as a gift and is simply adorable. He has his own huge cage out back and gets 'go crazy' time whenever i am home and can watch him roam free. Usually he stays wherever i am and finds a comfortable niche to sleep in (they sleep a lot).

They will always be with you in some however distant way.

Much Love

Matt & Pedro

Oh, so sorry!

Carpet sharks are very high on my list, just after cats and before dogs (though I do like other peoples' dogs!)

Sad for you, Rich and Chuck.

Remember the love.

"Hello" Chuck "perc-o-prince"

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I know what you are going through, after my loss of my 14-1/2 year old Calico/Tortoise Shell Cat, Speedee. I don't know why, but I've not been able to enter a Pix of her, even when the Pet Posting Thread was ongoing.

I had my Speedee, ever since she was just the size of the Palm of your Hand. She was a beautiful, wonderful Cat and very smart. She never ever got onto any Furniture, Counter's or Tables and have to be scolded, it was like she always knew, since she was little, what she could get onto and what she was not to get onto.

Know that we are all here for you, in your time of need. Remember, our Loved-Ones, whether they are people or pets, will always be in our Hearts and our Memories.

Peace, Blessings, Kind Regards and Hugs, Steve

Tank was a Peke. He was more butch though! LOL We shaved him down but left his lion head and a full tail. He was more comfy that way.

Peke's have good personalities. Tank was very laid back except for when it came to bigger dogs, then he was tough! We had Tanks half sister (same Mom) and she was a little tiny thing, acted like a cat, and was a total BITCH! So mean! She blew a disc in her back and was paralyzed so she was put down at the age of 3. That was sad too, even though she was so crabby she was still my crabby bitch. :-)

Our 4 legged friends are the best, no matter if they are still here or in our hearts!

Thanks, all. We took the condo apart (the cage was something like 3' x 3' x 5'high) and have put all ferret goods in a box to go up to the ferret shelter. Moved some furniture into that corner. Anything to get past the feeling! It'll be better as days go by. Again... thanks!!!

Matt- your cutie looks like a young'un. Does Pedro like pasta and sauce? When Kym called that Kiki wasn't eating well. I suggested the pasta, and she said,

Pedro likes anything he can fit his nose into hehe

He steals coffee, wine, beer, any type of food if we let him. He gets fed pet milk and sardines as recommended by the people he was bought off.

That photo was a while ago, hes huge now :-)
