I'm curious

How do you get them to let you take pictures of their laundry etc? It just has me intrigued as to how you got so many pictures, especially the top load in action?
 
I am SUPPOSED to take pictures of apartments including kitchens and bathrooms.

The superintendent (that's NYC 'tawk' for building manager) lies and says I'm with the/an insurance company...(in Spanish,usually) so I pretend I don't understand.

I never enter any apartment unescorted. (Underage children, theft, missing items etc. I don't need the hassles). Normally the tenants start bitching about the smallest issues to the super and/or me which keeps the super and the tenant away from my @$$.

*SNAP* goes my camera.

Best is whan a flaming queen tenant and I have our respective Gaydar ringing off the charts and we can't do more (to be social) than smile slyly.

The best is when I get a Queeny regional building manager. I do so camp it up (within limits).

Said to super (whose English is usually quite poor)by me:

So show me your unit. (apartment)
How big is it?
Have you worked on it lately?
How do I get access to it?

At this point the super is confused as hell at the rapid-fire questions, and the manager is peeing himself. Point gets across without an out-of-line word said.

o how fun! i have a few family members and friends that fit this criteria LOL i know this site all to well one of them has a duet washer in there kitchen you should hear the dishes rattle and the fire escape serves purpose of a "dryer" LMAO

The most loving warm, caring kind and vibrant people, IMHO.

I also do well with the 'bruthas'.

I have been known to turn "on" the Spanish, as necessary, when a posse of stuck-up bankers with me can't squeak a word out in another language without sounding like a bad tourist/gringo/ blancito. Honey, it's all where you place your tongue!

But I think my favorite "ethnic group" are generally located in Upper Manhattan / Washington Heights who use Spanglish so much that I am telling THEM the proper Spanish word. LOL

how about "los billes" "lunche" too LOL what a delightful little topic this turned out to be i bet most of the apartments reaked of suavitel and sofrito LOLZ or ensueno and crisco LOLZ ohh and of course how could i forget the mistolin!!!
 
My all-tme favorite Spanglish is
"Ella esta embarassada!"

In true/proper Spanish she's "pregnant"
in Spanglish she's "embarassed"

And maybe if she is pregnant and unmarried or has a sterile/impotent husband she IS embarassed as well. HA!

I grew up in a Bronx apt. very similar to the one with in the picture with the blue tiles, where is their washing machine?
Every Bx apt. had kitchen curtains, I mean EVERY Bronx apt. has kitchen curtains, unless there is no window in the kitchen.
I was wondering with all these new washer restrictions, what most Bronx apt. dwellers were gonna do when their top loaders die. I was shocked to see front loaders in these apts. I looked kind of strange to me. I am very used to seeing machines (top loaders) next to the sink though. THANKS FOR THE PICTURES, only a true New Yorker, can appreciate them, and oh yeah, I love the clotheslines. Nana had one that went from one end of the building to the other. My mom on the other hand rigged the fire escape with lines. LOL as well as the stndard drying rack in the house. Take care,

I meant to say the TENANTS' favor....which is sensible in that landlords have tried to stack the leases in their own favor!

In a standard Blumberg legal form (i.e. the lease in this case) the tenant gives up their right to a trial by jury. One of the first things a judge will do (used to do?) is throw out the lease. Only s(he) alone can decide if having a washing machine is a MATERIAL violation of the lease, enabling the tenant to be evicted. More often than not, it is NOT deemed a material violation. And AFAIK the reason for that is according to such a standard form-lease the tenant must technically ask permission to use a "ventilator" in the windows (a fan), have a window air-conditioner or have a stand-alone freezer(above and beyond a combo. refrgerator/freezer) "F DAT" says the judge.......... all are deemed the landlord's excessive reach for power and control, and are seen as violating the tenants' right to enjoy the space freely as long as no one else is hurt/disturbed. Well Asian food is nice once in a while, but thirty minutes later you are still hungry for more..........

A nice thick juicy piece of steak/meat surrounded by two large potatoes and garnised by alfalfa and bean-sprouts all-around it ain't.
