Hey guys, I just had to post about my day today, This website is one thing, talking on the phone to another washernut is another but MEETING!

I met my first fellow Washernut today (excuse me for saying this, Im sure you will!LOL) The one and only ChesterMike!!!!

Firstly its only fair I thank Robert for this wonderful site and the great frienships I have made thru knowing Im not the only one.
THANKYOU! You have made so many dreams come true, and wish you all the best in everything you do.

I can only say that Im still on a high and feel somewhat hazy about today and whats happened but yesterday I informed Mike about a Servis Twinnie in a local 2nd hand shop, and not having this particular model in his collection we arranged to meet so he could buy it.

Anyhoos When Mike suggested this yesterday I could barely breathe, I mean meeting the UKs "GOD" of Laundry appliances, well who wouldnt for the 1st time!

I dont really know what to say, just felt I had to mark the occasion here, excuse any blabbering but I have to say I had a wonderful morning Mike, It was a pleasure meeting you.

Im sure Mike has plenty to share about todays haul so il leave it at that and recover. :-)

Mike, your a star. I look forward to meeting up again,

R

Meet-Ups and Appliance Finds

Hi Rob, great to finally meet up and for you to finally find you arnt on your own!!!!

Rob had eagley spotted a Servis twinny in a Charity Warehouse and tipped me the nod with a batch of phone pics, so we arranged to meet up, pick up the twinny, which we duly did and then hit Costa Coffee while we talked fifty to the dozen about appliances, life, clubs and eveything else....(so much so my car park ticket had well run out..LOl)

We then hit a few other places and came across an old repair shop that looked like it had closed about 20yrs ago, it was shut, with a number on the door to ring, we peaked inside and couldnt believe our eyes, shelves of parts, motors , door boots, Hoover spares etc, years old, some from the 60`s....

Rob phoned the owner and he just happened to be 2mins from the shop, so we told him what we where looking for, "old stuff, Hoover juniors, keymatics, twinny valves & hoses", Ohhh I`ve got most of that , he said, here, here & Here, and I`ve got loads I`ve just bought from another store closing down, I was just going to sort it and junk it...Wow....

So we came away with old spares, Hoover turbo parts & tools, a set of "Hoover Bibles" as well as resilliant mounts and OCV valves for the twinnys....and an original Creda Spin Mat for the first spinner 1958 that I found a few weeks ago....

So a return visit is planned as soon as he has sorted stuff out.....The Servis Twinny looked a bit of a minger the way the warehouse had stored it but underneath it was very clean and little used.....this is a 1975 model, cabinet can be whipped off for a re-spray and also the top needs a good thick coat of paint etc....the 70`s 80`s models all suffered from a very thin coat of paint over an alloy metal, with those powders etc, you only needed to look at it for it to peel..but soon sorted....These machines where Britains workhorses in the 70`s and with this twinny you can Boil, Wash, Rinse & SpinDry all at the same time....FAB

So, Robs over here for a Twinny Washday next week, and to see what a real washer looks like (MaytAsko)...,,LOl

Thanks again Rob, had a great day myself...the one we picked up is on page two of the album link...
