Beautiful Set!

I love the way they say "clothes dryer" and "laundromat" in chrome script on the front, just in case someone can't figure out which is which, LOL. Good luck with them, I suspect the old line "no pain no gain" will be most applicable here!

well your the one who got me started so I really owe it all to you! Ill never be able to thank you enough for all the help and advice over the years, guess its just cause your a good guy. so im thankful thankful thankful!

hey there. if you mean the other pink westy dryer she is fine fine fine, funny story last year in spring I went to use it, turned it on then turned on the console light and it looked like it was flickering through the plastic cover and I thought great bad bulb or what ever but then it moved.. it was a mouse

Great Set

Chris:

How cool!

Looks like fun times ahead Chris. Do you have a boot for the washer?

These machines really are bulletproof so once you get leaks and other small annoyances fixed, they should run like new!

Best of luck.

Early Westinghouse Space-Mates

Great project Chris, these are kinda fun little machines, our families first dryer was one of these, we got it around 1957. The dryer was a very fast good performer, but needed lots of repairs during its short life drying clothing for a family of 6, my folks replaced it with a KM in 1964. As a kid my brothers and I got very good at taking the WH apart and unclogging it so Mom could keep the laundry going.

We never had the washer, but I have had several since I started collecting appliances and I have saved a W&D like yours for the museum project. I have already restored the dryer and I need to paint the washer. If you need any parts or advice for either I do still have some extra parts around, but unfortunately the washer I have is getting my last available new door boot, keep us posted, John.

hey john I have a feeling im gonna need a pump cap this one has pin holes all over it. if you have one please let me know ill be happy to buy it. one question at the moment is that dryer a 110 or 220 the cord looks like a 220 to me its thick as my thumb has 3 big prongs set just like my tag in the house? unless for some reason that was what 110 dryer cords looked like back in the day.. im not sure.. but they are all sanded and ground down and primed and 2 coats of pink. its a dif shade of pink for sure but im so tired im good with it ha ha

Keep going, Chris, they're looking great already!!

You might be able to sub a modern front-loader drain hose for that funky flexible one on the Westy...

yea I ordered 3 diff type that should be here in a week they looked pretty good so I bet I can use one and send the rest back

Relatives

The machine had an English electric relative manufactured in the uk as the automatic machine and also as a semi automatic machine. I remember my mum having a semi automatic washer with the same workings. The body of the machine was similar but none of those bright colours . The tumble dryer was also very similar. I will have a look in through my info for a model number when I get a chance but most certainly related to the American cousin

yea I think a lot of the vintage euro machines are so cool.. well off to either lowes or the depot for more paint I think im gonna have to tone it down just a bit I mean baby pink is pretty pink and not in the best way
