Well, it's not a Dyson 2-Drum, but it's just as if not more interesting!!!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Jamie - this is a great great great save! The repair manual to this machine is quite an interesting read - but also hints that the design was mostly original to the late 1940's patents for the same design. Thank you for posting the video as well - such a cool machine.

I've often wondered what the wash action would be like if the tub were only able to fill even half way full. The wash plates may need to spin faster to build velocity in order to 'force' water through the clothes - but would be interesting none-the-less!

Thanks ~

Ben

Hey Jamie! Really Sweet

That is pretty incredible. So, if you don't add water, can you use it to knead pizza dough or salt water taffy? Congratulations on a great find. So now that you have the Neptune TL, you won't need a Calypso (ducks and runs).

(That's an inside joke between me and Jamie.)

Awwwww, Jamie you got the Neptune! Congratulations, and great video by the way. What I did was I put a thick piece of rubber through the lid to stop the splashing and direct the water downward into the tub. I did need a dish towel around the top to get the last bit of water that did spray up.

Funguy, cut it out right now, you rudeness does get annoying. Good thing for you I look at the modern forum once every few weeks. Now hows about this? From this point on you're not allowed to ask anyone here for videos until you post some washer videos of your own. Got it? Don't let me catch you askin' again (I have a sneaky little techie way of checking every post you make), otherwise, its not gonna be pretty. Hmmmmph.

Does the Neptune TL tumble both ways or just one way? From what I have seen on the maytag site it looks only one way... Does it tangle muchlie?

I took some pics of the 2 water levels it has, the water looks shallower in the pics than it really is. Here is the low water level, used on the normal wash cycles, it's about 4 inches deep, the tub is only 16 inches deep. This water level is high enough that medium loads have a very hard time getting turned over and small loads simply float on top unturned.

Maytag, Performance You Can Depend On!!!

Nice one Jamie, I bet you didnt sleep the night that came in!!!you know the more I see this machine the more you can (IMHO) understand what the designers/engineers where trying to do, when you see it wash empty its all the makings nearly of a front loader wash action, where is the jet that keeps spraying all over etc??

enjoy, Mike

Wow that is something different.
It looks like those discs take up a lot of room in the tub, what is the load size of the machine?
When it spins, I guess some of the clothes are against the stainless steel drum and some are against the discs? Does that create any balancing hassles? What is the spin speed? Anyone have a diagram of the mechanism?

Thanks Jamie.

Chris.

The discs don't take up a whole lot of room in the machine, the indentation around the sprial on them them is quite deep. The machine is rated at 3.5 cubic feet, but I think it's a lot bigger than that, a queen sized comforter that would not fit in my dad's Whirlpool Duet washer fit in this machine without any problem and got very well cleaned too!

The machine balances itself pretty well, the discs aren't a problem because they are exactly opposite eachother. The discs are also perforated to extract any water from the clothes laying against the discs during spin.

I'm not certain about the spin speed, I believe my machine has a top speed of 900 RPM and the LCD model has a top speed of 1,000 RPM.
