I checked out the appliances today at home depot.
I was looking at the FL LG's and saw a platumn color model that was almost just like my combo. That color looks awsome.
I also saw the maytag neptune 8700 but not the 9700 does anyone know if it is back in the market after the recall?
As for the dishwashers I saw the LG but very over priced for my taste. Than I looked at the GE's and saw new model tall tubs that were in the lower price level. Racking wasn't as good as the more expensive models in that silverware basket was located in front middle of bottom rack. Top rack was not angeled or convient to load tall items.
I also saw maytags and admirals which were almost identical to the maytags except they had in the door silverware baskets.
What I realy don't like about a lot of these new dishwashers is most of then dont give any cycle progress. The more expensive models have a digital display but the less expensive have wash dry light if you are lucky some don't even have that much. I feel all dishwashers should give cycle progress lights. Any feedback on these issues?

I agree Pete, it would be better if manufacturers would just go back to mechanical timers. The best way to see progress on a cycle is with an old fashioned timer knob.

Though there are BOL models with knobs and buttons,...which are getting fewer. Any machine with touch pads should give some indication of where the cycle is regardless of price.

cycle progress

I agree on that, my former LK '78 dishwasher had progress lights and a time countdown, but the newer supposedly more advanced '88 WP doesn't have either

I like the electromechanical timers better as well-and for another reason besides seeing what part of the cycle the machine is in by glancing at the main knob--I have NEVER seen an electromechanical timer blown out by lightening!!Has happened twice on my WP-KA dishwasher.
