Weren't we just discussing '74 GE's?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

GE Dispense -all

WOW they have some seriously hard water, don't people buy water softeners anymore? This was often even more of a problem with GE FF washers as they used more wash water than most washers and users just wouldn't use enough detergent. The good thing about plastic parts is they clean-up very well.

Flashing Me?

All I can say is that I agree with Combo. You better change the code and beef up the security system on that basement...

Holy cow, you weren't kidding about the state of cleanliness under there! I can't really remember that last one that didn't have some kind of schmootz under the skirt. WOW! You gotta shoot video when you can...

A clean bottom is always good!

.... and SCENE.

But really,  no cobwebs?  Did you pre-clean, and then photoshop?

Did you take out insurance on that YET?

Is there any oil spun off on the side walls?  Or black staining from the pump?

I'll be honest. I haven't done a thing to the washer, let alone put a towel to it. Hoping to have some time to dig into it tomorrow.

In the mean time, I've been performing a chemistry project in the basement. Here is the before picture of the dispensall tank/pan. All I had done at this point was shake excess debris off of it before putting it in the truck. The washer came from a farm which was more than likely on well water.

Last night I started scrapping off any excess that I could, and ran it through the KitchenAid KDS-17 a few times. The remaining crap is hard water deposits that won't come off without some vinegar persuasion.

This afternoon I bought a 21 gallon tote and 6 gallons of vinegar. Time for a soaking! I cannot stand the smell of vinegar, so thankfully I had some chores to do later in the afternoon, and attended a hockey game after dinner with some friends.

Tonight, I ran the filter-flo pan and the dispensall tank/pan under the kitchen sink and cleared up any excess gunk that had softened in the tote. It is starting to look normal again!

More to come tomorrow.

OMG !

WTF ?

that dispenser looks like something dug out of a home flooded in the 1993 midwest flood.

I mean, I've seen hardwater build-up, but THAT.

Your doing the right thing with the soaking.  and again, If THAT is your only problem (fingers crossed)

you would be very fortunate.

I, I'm sorry..

did we get the address where we can stop by sometime...

and take

a look at it.

I mean, when your home, of course.   ah-hah.

And its Harvest Gold.  The only dispensall I had was HG.

Has anyone ever seen one in coffee or Avacodo?

Actually, this one IS avacado.

Don't worry about the basement. I have the Mission Impossible crew fresh from the CIA vault working on Ben's basement access. Wait, Ben's not actually reading this thread, is he? Ummm... Hey Ben, ignore that racket down there. It's only the rare Iowan Laundry Gopher. Not to worry! Ummmm, yeah...

Shhh.  Shhh.

Andrew, email me.   Waterloo is 3 hr. and 12 minutes from me a bit closer than Reno.

I'm warming up the van, packing my tools, bringing an appliance dolly, my night surveillance binoculars, a stun gun,  magic underwear (don't ask), and snacks.

Oh, and a camera and giant plotter printer.

Here's the plan.  We'll take a picture of the machine where it sits now, print it out, remove the machine,

and hang the print out where the machine was.    TEE-HEE !

He'll never  know its gone.  ROFL.

I'm GENIUS.

Ben, I think the A-1 priority for my next "retreat/vacation" to Waterloo should be the installation of a Hi-tech security system for the basement. Maybe with Cory's help we can design a Rube Goldberg machine that will not only deter intruders but perhaps trap them in a humiliating way!

Ummmmm,

Pssst! Erik and Drew. Yeah, you! While the guru is asleep, couldja nab the Westy fridge? St. Louis isn't too far.

I'll brew up some fresh coffee and throw in home-made biscuits and gravy.

Deal?
