Dont you DARE sleep mister! OMG! DispenseAlls! Who do I have to kill for a set?!?!?
Sorry, but that is my Holy Grail set that Grandma had which started me down this roller coaster ride known as love of appliances. Hmmmm, what do I have that Ben can't live without? LOL!
Pretty platinum and now gorgeous green! Can't wait to see more - and don't make us wait for the detailing shop to finish their makeover, we want the "raw" story
Can't wait to see more, better change your security code on your homes alarm system because if Andy doesn't get them Matthew GEXR might and I will be along to get that MT Combo out of the way for you LOL.
Hey, we're lucky Ben had enough energy to take even one pic and upload before he keeled over. Thought it was ONLY another TOL GE until I saw the lid within the lid in the dark. The great fortune of the great Iowan. So satisfying.
Grab a couple of bottles of vinegar, a tub or bucket large enough for the dispenser, fill the bucket and immerse the dispenser fully, cover, and let soak for a couple of days and it should clean up no problems.
Wow - that's worse than I'd imagined they would be. It's helpful if it hasn't been used for a long time and everything is dry, easier to chip and scrape away...
WOW they have some seriously hard water, don't people buy water softeners anymore? This was often even more of a problem with GE FF washers as they used more wash water than most washers and users just wouldn't use enough detergent. The good thing about plastic parts is they clean-up very well.
All I can say is that I agree with Combo. You better change the code and beef up the security system on that basement...
Holy cow, you weren't kidding about the state of cleanliness under there! I can't really remember that last one that didn't have some kind of schmootz under the skirt. WOW! You gotta shoot video when you can...
I'll be honest. I haven't done a thing to the washer, let alone put a towel to it. Hoping to have some time to dig into it tomorrow.
In the mean time, I've been performing a chemistry project in the basement. Here is the before picture of the dispensall tank/pan. All I had done at this point was shake excess debris off of it before putting it in the truck. The washer came from a farm which was more than likely on well water.
Last night I started scrapping off any excess that I could, and ran it through the KitchenAid KDS-17 a few times. The remaining crap is hard water deposits that won't come off without some vinegar persuasion.
This afternoon I bought a 21 gallon tote and 6 gallons of vinegar. Time for a soaking! I cannot stand the smell of vinegar, so thankfully I had some chores to do later in the afternoon, and attended a hockey game after dinner with some friends.
