I've Often Wondered....

....Why Westinghouse majors from this era are so scarce.

It's not like Lucy and Desi didn't work themselves to death flogging them when new. I am VERY familiar with Westinghouse products from this time frame because of the Lucy/Desi ads, but I only knew one household in my kiddie days that actually had any - Betty Ann and Alfred's, my second cousin and his wife.

Oh, and Paul - Betty Ann's were all turquoise. Long gone now.

Yep, St Pete. Bch, FL August 1957 we were stylin! Same color! Different hood and oddly a Hot Point DW. You did NOT screw with Mom's WH's! Ask my dumb ass Bro who put a Frozen pizza in the oven upside down!

We had a house built in 60-61 that had WH range top and oven, though ours had the oven controls on the left side. We never had the chance to ccok on it, on move-in day 1986 sometime placed a box on the top, the switch for one element was slighty on and the box ignited overnight. I was a small fire localized to the range top so the surrounding cabinetry was rebuilt and refinished and the oven preserved. Ours was coppertone but I have always thought WH had some of the most beautiful styling until the 70's and White Consolidated and the era's uni-style trend in general took away most of the personality.

Why are WH Appliances so rare During this Period?

We still see a lot of WH Built-In Cooking appliances from this time period, but of coerce almost no DWs are left from this time if they were actually used LOL so seeing this WH DW is rare. It looks like this WH oven and cook-top saw plenty of use [ the cook-top has all the wrong knobs on it ] and probably will not look as good up close, but they are after all 50+ years old.
