Westinghouse Dishwashers late 1960~early 1970

I use to see the "cycle dial line" Westinghouse DW a lot from a far when I was in a youth group at church. She (our youth leader) always had youth activities at her house. I could never admire the dishwasher up close because everytime she saw someone in her kitchen she would shoo us out. Then my piano teacher's elderly parents bought the Westinghouse cycle dial line also. My mother and the teacher was out of sight talking (about me) and I literally memorized everything on that dishwasher control panel.
I could never figure out how the pointer could be moved backward to set the timer. Did the you move the knob backwards to set it? Just being a curious George!
I have not posted in a very long time. I lost my Mom to Dementia and a UTI last November. Then lost a favorite Aunt this month. I've been around death too much over the last couple of months. Starting to live again!
