I was at my parents house today and we were going over old pictures and I found this one. My mother explained she took this photo at a party when she was a teenager- her friends were singing "How Dry I Am" to answer the dryer chime. (she confessed a little alcohol helped get them started). Note the clothes on the washer door and Clorox bottle in the back ground. On a side note I have this model pair and would love to get them restored. Maybe finding the picture was a sign to get started?

It's curtains for you Miss Scarlet, curtains.

How dry I am....
How wet I'll be
If don't find the bathroom key.

Gotta love booze, the BEST social lubrication.
Love it! Unfinsished basement with CURTAINS!

Now THAT is a dryer!

Appears to be hard-wired in (no outlet/power-point). Thin looking cable. I wonder if this was used on 110-120v instead of 220-240v.

A Little Brighter and Sharper

Hi:

I did some gamma and contrast manipulation with the photo, as well as a minor sharpening, so that perhaps a little more information would be visible...

age and price

This picture was taken Oct 1956 I checked with my mom and she said she was 19 then and they were having a party there because the house was new so she assumes these were new appliances. The set I have has a date written inside the cabinet in grease pencil of 1953 and it appears to be the same set. Maybe they produced the same set several years ( or maybe my mother doesn't remember and they were a few years old when her friends moved into the new house). The paperwork for my set doen't have the price of the dryer but it looks like the washer price was $250.00
