Compwhiz,...i am going out on a limb here, but,i would say to you,get a machine in the Whirlpool family,...Roper,Kenmore,WP,KA. It all depends on what you looking for.Take this as a general guideline,Whirlpool products from my own personal experience are the most reliable across the board. Always check consumer reports too.
It looks like you have an 18" which limit your choices. If you can carve another 6" out of your kitchen cabinet, you can get any DW you want (for example the lovely pink Kitchenaid on ebay)
I think the least expensive is the Frigidaire 18". I just installed one this weekend for a friend of mine-When we got done, I was surprise how quiet it was, and it really is the decendant of the DW you got now, because Frigidaire bought out D&M, the co. that built your old school Kenmore.
Oh, you may look at Danby but I don't know-We no can get here
Yes the WP line is good-If you want max reliability-suggest you avoid the models with electronic timers and control panels. My WP-KA has troubles with its electronics-replaced it with Member Touchmatics Hobart built KA machine. Still need to get the water input hooked up-just have to find the right connectors.
I would say from personal experience,..go with any of the whirlpool family of dishwashers,...KitchenAid,Kenmore,Roper,..and of course WP itself.Any of these brands will clean very well.
