I was wondering what do some of my fellow washer collectors do for a living? My job is not appliance related at all. I am a maintenance supervisor at charleston airport.

I work pumping propane gas into many different size tanks.some are used for weilding others used to fuel water heaters,appliances and furnaces.Yes,it gets cold here.I also sell mostly gas appliances as well as electric. I manage a Speed Queen Laundry and do most of the maintanance of the 7 different rooms we have for rent. These are fully furnished and have flat screan tvs as well as satalite dishes.One room,the Jewelbox,has a Fisher Paykel dishwaser and an opium bed.Another has a 7'wide screan tv.It's the theatre room and has two sets of theater seats witch recline.Rental goes at $75/day and includes everything but groceries.We are 1600 ft above sea level and the town hasn't changed since 1956.No KMart,no lowes,No trafic lights,no 7-11,no major freeway,no airplane trafic,no noise but that made of the waves hitting the rock coast,rain pattering heavily on the clear fiberglass roof above my leny.No need for an air conditioner,and a nice apartment that has a huge soup vat for my kitchen sink with a huge wok for my dishpan.The Dishmaster is mounted on my wall above the sink. I have a Frigidaire slide in gas range in black,an amana 25 bottom freezer unit,an opium bed,a shrine to Lucille Ball including all of the Mattel dolls,all the DVD I love Lucy episodes,all the literature and two autographed,signed and framed photos of Lucy and Desi and one 15x30 framed charcoal portrait of Lucille Ball signed by the artist.My bathroom shower is open and has three different shower heads.One of which is hand held.My shower overlooks the Pacific and has great ceramic tile designs including a spiral whirlpool and different sea animals.Lots of color.A glassblock wall and a lo boy toilet and a nice porcelain sink with a center post.My curtains are full of colorfull parrots and plants.My bedspread matches them.I have two free standing butcherblocks and two wing chairs.I work Monday Thru Friday 8AM-6PM pumping gas from 1PM to 6PM and doing wash folks drop off from 7AM-9PM.So far,I have made enough money in the Laundry to buy some of the new SQ stacked sets.I charge $.75/pound and work hard getting out stains and bringing back color and whiter whites.Word is out and,just two minutes ago,I was rewarded a dozen choclate pot chipped cookies!!!Yum,muy--lol.Last bunch I got were so strong that just a half of one got me uk fupped.I had mistakingly eaten two at first and got lost riding my usual trail on my bike!!!I called my friend telling her what happened and she laughed her but off.I also repair appliances and convert natural gas appliances to propane.I go to the beach on Saturday and Sunday or go shopping in Hilo or Kona. I like Hilo because there's a used appliance place that lets me take unchecked washers and/or dryers for $10 as is.I got a top loading Neptune from them. The motherboard was completely disconnected and it worked after I reconnected the board.I am now using it next to a GE Profile Harmony gas dryer.Loveing it here in paradise!

I have worked for the local movie theater in various capacities since 1984 at age 21 (currently doing the bookkeeping). That be 25+ years.

Also worked for a local ISP from Nov 1998 until I pulled the last plug when it closed in Apr 2007. Now am assisting a friend with her web design/hosting business.

I am a nurse and have a full-time job managing a 50 bed facility as well as a 120 apartment self-care complex. I also own my own home-care business and am in the process of setting up a non-for-profit organization to provide health and aged care services to the huge number of disadvantaged who fall through the cracks of our beaurocracies for whatever reason. I am also at uni doing post-grad work.
