Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I run the family's new & used appliance business. The company has been around since the 1930's. My dad has been the service guy since the mid-to-late 60's and bought the place in 1982. In fact, he'll turn 69 this year and still runs 10 calls a day (it keeps himm active & keeps him on the road out of my hair!). Before joining the family buisness in 1998, I spent 6 years as a car salesman and a stint as the finance manager at the dealership. I don't miss doing that.

work bloody work

I am by trade a domestic audio engineer, i also work three days a week at a re-cycling centre (can be a toy shop sometimes)

I was a computer programmer, then had a software company which I sold, now I'm retired at 42, and volunteer at an organization which helps protect built heritage properties

Communications Consultant

for the institutional 401(k) clients of Wachovia Bank (soon to be Wells Fargo). Basically, I write the investment education materials employees use to take advanatage of their retirement plan(s) and investments. Been doing this for 10 years. Started at AMEX; that spun off to Ameriprise; that was sold to Wachovia and that was merged with Wells. Four companies in 10 years - all within a 2 block radius.

I have degrees in accounting, business administration, and fraud examination. I've worked as a financial auditor, a tax auditor for the State of Minnesota, and as a general accountant for the Smead Manufacturing Company, a well-known office products manufacturer headquartered here in Hastings. In April the company went through the largest downsizing in its 102-year history, and I was one who was cut. Now unemployed and scrambling to pay my bills, I take whatever work comes along, whether it's scrubbing toilets, shampooing carpet, whatever.

Historic Preservationist.

After taking my education in historic preservation as high as I could, I decided to try earning a living doing it too.

I deal with historic building research, rehabilitation tax credit applications, historic districts, etc. I also do historic building condition assessments (not the same as a building inspection) rehabilitation planning, obscure parts sourcing, and all other things having to do with historic buildings.

I love my work and enjoy getting out of bed in the morning, I just wish it paid better.

We ARE indeed a productive bunch,
Dave
