Re Plastic slipcovers!

In the winter when the air in the house was dry from the heat being on...those D#$% things would shock hell out of you!!!!

My mom had Fiberglas pinch-pleated drapes on traverse rods everywhere back in 1968. Living room, kitchen, bedrooms.  They were never washed in the filter-flo. They were always laundered downstairs in the buildings commercial washers. And yes, we had the plastic slipcovers over the living room furniture too, all my aunts did as well. They were clammy in the winter, and you had to peel yourself off of them in the summer. Finally by 1980, the clear plastic nightmare had ended.

One other thing, who remembers Fiberglas "Angel Hair" on Christmas trees? We did it one year, when I was a kid. Looked really pretty the way it shimmered with the C-7 twinkle lights. But boy did they make you itch if you touched it! NEVER AGAIN!

Fiberglas Angel Hair

I found a box of this by accident in my grandmother's closet, and was fascinated by the stuff.

Until fifteen minutes later, when a familiar rush of itching and pain announced what it truly was.

*starts twitching*
